"You wouldn't use German or French quotation marks when writing in English would you?"
No, unfortunately people don't. As a person who has got English as his 2nd language I know how confusing it is to see French expressions all of a sudden appear in English text, which is a shame since I selected German as the 3rd language in school.. (my mother tongue is Swedish)
In either way, why is it that French expressions are used in English writing, i.e. journalists enjoy using it from time to time, especially if they try be sophisticated and overly ambitious?;)
How nice! I sure will, but rather wait for at least the beta to come out before I see it worth having installed. In my view, alpha releases are not "good enough" for everyday use, or does this alpha release happen to be extraordinary?:-)
I recall from graduate school at that time seeing a business plan that contemplating distributing software through vending machines! It seems absurd now, but at the time it wasn't that far out of the ball park
Actually, these days there are a couple of vending machines for iPod purchases available at airports http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/security/?p=41/. Therefore today I wouldn't think of software sold via a vending machine to be absurd, but several years ago? Yes.
In some countries university studies are offered to their citizens without educational fees. The catch here is, the country's taxes and tolls are exceptionally high compared to elsewhere in the world (this in my view very reasonable: the cost of "free" education for every citizen naturally has got to have a money tree, namely the indespensable and very much love-hated high-tax system).
The tax-supported educational system exists to create incentives for "average Sven" to get smart whether he is poor or rich, so in those places it's not about the money short-term speaking - it's about the long-term return on investment.
Also, for the rest of the world which does not offer a no-cost education ("free" is a bold statement as it does cost tremendeous money for the tax payers) to their people I know there are stipends people can try apply for if they are really talented and ambitious about something. Right?

Agreed!
What the person should have done is refer to "UNIX-like operating systems such as".
