I have the right to record a song off the radio.. I have the right to record a tv show off of TV... Why do I not have the right to record a show, or song off youtube?
YOU may have a right to do that (IANAL), but does *someone else or a service* have the right to do it FOR you?
It's not the same as operating your own tape recorder.
A company is a group of people who pool their money to start some sort of enterprise. Any organization made up of people have free speech rights. The "corporations shouldn't have rights" is a load of horseshit that idiots like you perpetuate in one big circle jerk, demanding that those people who comprise corporations support your bitching.
Of course this is no different than an Apple product âoedemoâ or any other new product release event. This "story" is nothing more than typical âoeMicrosoft Hateâ without any real substance. Folks, it was a PR event. The product itself is still under development and yet to be released. Seriously folks, feel free to hate Microsoft, but get a clue about PR-driven product announcementsâ¦
I'm really not sure how this can be. I myself participated in a usability study 6 month ago with this thing, and these types of studies are hardly "secret". Yes, you sign a NDA, but seriously, if Redmond is bringing in dozzens of "little people" like me to roadtest the hardware/software, it not a "secret".
Take for instance, employees of a collections agency. These are people who perform a distasteful, but still required service. Nobody really likes being called by a bill collector, nor do they like having to use one to get deadbeat clients to pay up. Deadbeats especially, despise bill collectors, and some are even belligerent enough to be a real physical threat to collection employees. This is why many collections agencies provide work aliases for call center staff, etc. If a foolproof means of identifying people is developed, these employees are at risk.
If you fear being associated with your employer, perhaps you should work someplace else? Also, you seem like a very judgmental person - I mean "deadbeats"? Have you conseidered the current economic environment and the fact that a LOT of people have lost their jobs?
A post for some anti-Microsoft tinfoil hat? Must be a slow news day.
Indeed.
But you know, it's Microsoft's product, they can build it however they want - you're not obligated to buy it.
On the other hand, if you DO buy it, nothing should stop you from at least trying to unlock it and load some other OS... You *do* own the hardware, but MS can design, build, and load it however they damn well feel like...
Another point to note is we really don't know that much about the actual OS / software. Is it going tobe just a limited version of the desktop OS?
I have an idea about that because 4 or 5 months ago, I did a "usability study" in MS in Redmond with a prototype of this thing.
The OS and the applications have some nice features. This is not a tablet for the Slashdot crowd, it's designed for people that prefer the "Wandows Experience".
There are three minerals involved - tungsten, tantalum and tin. The electronics groups have gotten together to work on the first mineral, tantalum and have done it at the smelter scale. There are 45 smelters worldwide that process coltan into tantalum, and from there it's a lot easier.
I'm not challenging your statement because I'm ignorant on the question.
But really, when a ship, truck or train car arrive in the middle of the night, and cash passes hands - commerce in Africa is even more sketchy than China... There is every possibility that the actual source of raw materials is obfuscated to protect all the slimy business dealings...
Unless there are laboratory alalysis being done on the raw ore by independent watchers that can verify the chain of custody of the ore, in my ignorant opinion, all bets are off...
What keyboard does he have that doesn't have just the plain ' on it?
Have you people considered that the key is broken?
I don't know about YOU and your ability to throw away money like it grew on trees, but I canât afford to go out and buy a new kewboard âoewilly-nillyâ when people steal the keys out of my keyboard when Iâm not in my cube.
Iâ(TM)m horrified. Absolutely shocked. I tell you, this is the final nail in Microsoft and Visual Studioâ(TM)s coffin. Oh, and âoeMy eyes, it burns! The goggles do nothing!â

Again, IANAL...
That's set legal doctrine throughout Europe for something like 150 years.
Verizon is a US corporation, and we are talking about US law, not "Europe".

According to Larry Sanger, Wikipedia already has that image.

"it's a free market and it's their product and you're not obliged to buy it so you have no right to criticise "
Please don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say that, most likly because I didn't mean that.
Please consider a reduction in your caffine intake.

The list members are hardware store owners and many are technically challenged...
That's really sad. Maybe I mean YOU for assuming such a low threshold...
I've got a "laptop" that's about 2 1/2 x 4 inches or so, runs Android, and doubles as a phone... Wait... It *IS* a phone!
According to this company that does "Background Checks", someone named "Anonymous Coward" lives in Redmond WA, on Microsoft Way...

You're not the one from NY?

Interesting that the one in Washington State is located in... Redmond.
Moron.
Good grief, I didn't realize Tea Baggers came to Slashdot...
I didn't see anything at all in the ruling about marijuana or LSD, and what do either have to do with the Motorola / Apple thing anyway?
Not really.
