Back in the day, I hade almost several 1000 quality edits - which is to say slightly more than typo correction - but walked away for many of the reasons that this guy puts light on. Suicide would have been a bit of an over reaction, though.
...It's perfectly OK for ISIL to chop heads off, execute innocent people with suicide bombs, keep women uneducated and in burkas, teach teenage boys how to be abusers, murderers,.and worst of all "martyrs"...
And suppose you use your "self driving car" just to make little trips back and forth to friend like we "text" right now? Send the car with a small package, send the car with a joke, send the car... For anything?
The games are two and a half months away. Preparations for hosting them take years. I can't see the point in this guy's comments, other than as an attempt to garner some cheap publicity.
Regardless of *if* the games occur (they will), he's telling people to stay away . That is the point of his comments.
It's Product Sans, created by Google... and it is the same font as Google is currently using.
Is it now... How close does it resemble existing fonts? And is it "Open Sores"? Seriously, go tak a look at some fonts at - for example - DaFont... You think Google "owns" that font? Think again. Hundreds or "prior art" on that baby.
Googe's intent was to use a font is clearly similar to Google's trademark.
Intent is a difficult thing to prove. FACT is that Google does not own the font.
Here's another "fact" Google has not yet done anything, this is all "The Verge" (whatever web site that is that is paying Slashdot for stories) and Slashdot whipping up some sulatious story where there really is NO STORY!
Google OWNS that font? It's not even the same font Google now uses. It's a "sans serif" font that is a little more "stylized" than Helvetica, but the "Google Font"? Sure, OK, whatever. By the way, how is this any story at all? Good grief, did she fart in public and mention Donald Trump?News for nerds? Stuff that matters? Not really... Does Timothy still work at Slashdot? Seriously, file this under "No One Give's A Shit".
If there isn't corruption (or other wrong doing) then Congress hasn't the authority to investigate.
Making choices about what content to push to the top on a private web site is neither corruption or "wrong-doing". Fox News does it as a business model.
No, we just have lots of leftists who like government being involved in every aspect of your life. We also have asinine bans on bags at grocery stores.
Might I suggest Austin is not the right own for you?
The taxi companies (and according to you, the city council members in their pockets) spent *CLOSE TO NOTHING* to oppose this proposition. Uber and Lyft spent 8.2 million to push is. Yet the CITIZENS of Austin rejected Uber / Lyft's view. Did the taxi companies pay off everyone who opposed this prop? Or perhaps you drink too much right-wing Kool-Aid...
Your own citation clearly states that violent offenders are a minority of the prison population.
Sure, spin those stats.
What they show is that while violent offenders are a "minority" when you combine all other categories into one , as a category violent offenders are by far the largest category.
As well, 47.7% isn't exactly a small "minority.
2012 Stats Violent - 47.7% Property - 17.1% Drug - 20.5% Public-Order - 13.8% (what is "public-order"?) Other - 0.7%
And, when you combine violent offender and property crime, that's a majority, unless you want to tell me that burglary and car theft and such things should be punished with a "Oh please don't do that again..."
So, a bunch of "news curators" (journalists???) take a job with Facebook and fail to understand who and what Facebook is, which is not a purportedly "unbiased" news source or service such as a major newspaper or other news gathering entity, and after discovering what just about everyone with a brain understands about Facebook, they are now but-hurt? As far as âoean Indian outletâ that pissed Facebook off, well, you know? Facebook is a company that can do what they want with their product.
After doing a tour in Facebook's news trenches, almost all of them came to believe that they were there not to work, but to serve as training modules for Facebook's algorithm."
Well, yeah, did they think Facebook would not automate the process? Did they think Facebook would hire a multi-hundred team of âoenews curatorsâ to keep the monster going? I know this is a little flippant, but GEEEEZE, what kind of weed were the people smoking! Call these "news curators" a WAAAAAAAABULANCE!
Not news for nerds, stuff that really doesn't matter outside North Korea. By the way, this is only for a week, during the North Korean Party Congress. Move along, nothing to see other than a bunch of North Korean nut bars.
Actually, here's an interesting story: The North Koreans have restaurants and other businesses in China and other "friendly" countries, primarily to generate cash for Un's emmenthaler cheese addiction (look it up), and increasingly, the staff of these businesses are defecting.

Also: relevant to this discussion...
Back in the 1970's, this sort of thing started to show up in stores.
But also, look up "White Label" products...
...It's perfectly OK for ISIL to chop heads off, execute innocent people with suicide bombs, keep women uneducated and in burkas, teach teenage boys how to be abusers, murderers, .and worst of all "martyrs"...
Don't they build iPhones?
Why wouldn't any "social media" platform do exactly this? Is this news to anyone?
Seriously, the solution to being annoyed by Facebook is... DON'T USE FACEBOOK!
And suppose you use your "self driving car" just to make little trips back and forth to friend like we "text" right now? Send the car with a small package, send the car with a joke, send the car... For anything?
Startups here would do this if they could get away with it, perhaps some already do...
Pretty much like thousands of other ISPs, not ideal for the customer, but pretty common none the less.

You must be fucking blind. The font Google uses for their logo is not the same as any other font.
Thatnk you for yout thoughtful comment.
Clearly you are not a designer or a font guy, so I will allow your completely asinin comment.
Fact is, Google might have "tweaked" the font, but they did not originate the basice font.
Simply a fact.
Fonts are an art form, and there are many variations. Very few including Google's font are "original".

Remember one guy who used his fortunate name to start a company and wangle some deals from Microsoft?
Sorry dude, Mike Rowe is cleaning sewars with a camera crew.

But on election day, the proposal to repeal ultimately received just 39,083 votes -- 44% of the total cast...
So, in Austin, a city of a little over 910,000 people, only 89,000 or so voted... And people wonder why government doesn't represent them...
Prison is about more than punishment. Or it should be...
A "liberal" view that has never been the reality.
Your own citation clearly states that violent offenders are a minority of the prison population.

Maybe your Intertube supplier stinks. I have Comcast and have no issues, so maybe it's YOU.
I use Chrome, Chromium, and occasionally Firefox (if I am forced to). I have no problems getting to TPB.
As is normal here, some person has a connectivity problem and jumps to a conclusion - OMG I'm being blocked!
Well, I'm not being blocked.

...Invoca is a software company based in Santa Barbara, California that develops a Software as a Service platform for marketers...
Yeah, so, to guy is pretty much an asshat anyway.
