There will be no shortage of ambulance chasing lawyers suing the town if something happened and the town had provided info of its own free will, as opposed to be compelled to by a court order
If by "of it's own free will" you mean released under a federal law requiring that information to be given.
Well it is civil disobedience. When you download from P2P, you are publicly demonstrating disobedience. You are on a *PUBLIC* network, which anyone can access, and others can see that you are downloading/uploading. What would you have to do to make it become public disobedience? Send a letter like this?
Dear RIAA,
My name is John Doe, with the phone number (08) 81234567. I live at 38 Restman Street, Glenelg, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.
I would like you to know that I have downloaded your music from P2P. Please have me arrested.
Loser pays is NOT always a fair system, since how many p2p users/people who were unable to win a case with the RIAA/MPAA/BSA can afford to pay whatever their corporate high-price lawyers cost?

It's not like anyone is defending childrens' right to drink alchohol and smoke pot, so why do we need to defend their right to buy computer games behind their parents' back?
Kids already drink alcohol and smoke pot as it is. Laws like these really just make more criminals.
Because that won't make the company paid to do R&D any money of course! Why would they want to use existing technology that works perfectly well when they can get paid to make something new which won't work as well??? Kids these days!;)
Yeah, you've gotta love Jaycar, they've got so much stuff...i could make a small BAC tester from stuff there if I wanted to.
Anyway, anyone who is looking for FM transmitters, they have a few models, one of whch has up to 2km range (apparently...I haven't built one). You will have to modify it to take line level input though, they use an electret microphone.
And also: they have very cheap peltiers.
I don't know how good they are though, can anyone who has bought one give me an idea of the quality?
Seriously, it's amazing what that stuff can do...I just wish I could get my hands on the military grade stuff...the kind of tape that is meant for patching bullet holes and doing minor airframe repairs to the helicopeter;)
As for what your programs do...it's normally summed up as "undefined". Where undefined in this context means "i dunno wtf is gonna happen...just reboot".
One of my friends has said "Get a room" almost everytime we're in a 3-way MSN convo with his ex, it kinda comes naturally to assume it's a joke ;)
Anyone who has a problem with you defending their country is an asshole, IMO.

If most of the oxygen that we actually used came from an alternate source, then yes, absolutely, we could.
It was just a joke...it's better not to take things like that too seriously IMHO.
Anyway, I hope everything goes well for ya.

And if I make a system that doesn't use TCP/IP?

Furthermore, kids should be allowed to buy and watch porn
I hate to break it to you, but we all just get it for free off the internet anyway. It *REALLY* doesn't make any difference what laws say.
It probably uses IE in its interface, it wouldn't know how to use Gecko for it.
Come on now, you say it like it's a bad thing ;)
Umm...they haven't started testing this in SA have they? Because recently my power has been having problems...

Do you have an iPod that can play internet radio streams?
Yeah, I'm an Aussie, that happened to be the particular one I was thinking of.
;)
I've never built that one, although I managed to fuck up another one...however, it still has a use: jamming tv
You can get some with coils wound onto the PCB though, or in a package similar to a resistor...well, a 1 watt resistor. So a very big resistor.

Just look in the DIY kit section of any electronics store, there's always a number of small FM transmitters, some of which get 2km range.
They usually have an electret microphone, but it wouldn't be very hard to modify one to take a line-level source.
Yeah, like they're gonna make millions of already operational units illegal...
DO NOT DOUBT THE POWER OF DUCT TAPE!!!

MIPS is almost dead
In the workstation market maybe...but not everywhere.
There was a version with USB support, I have a copy on my desk.
5 Seagates, 1 Quantum, and a WD Caviar ;)
No, now the system doesn't crash.
