I know that the cost of production of these plastic drives will be much cheaper as plasti c injection molding produces products much faster than metal. But how reliable will these drives be and how quick?
I think those of you who were lucky enought to get into the preipo will be very lucky. Even my brother who has never ran linux is going to try to buy some RedHat stock on the ipo. How could I have been let into the redhat pre ipo?
I think what this will do is be basically a URL search engine. You type in something you are looking for and it pops up. I don't see anything much more advanced getting worked out so soon.
I am concerned that this will be abused by script kiddies. Who says that the software is secure? I dont think this will go through. With the competition in the software industry, I think the consumer will buy the software that can not be remotely disabled. Also, Crackers can get past dongles, why wouldn't they be able to get past a remote disabilitation program.
I know they offer linux, but how many people does it take to put linux on a line of machines. I hope they keep up their high industry quality on these new machines.
The best thing to do is to contact a lawyer who handles patent cases. Most lawyers will do an intial consultation for a small fee or for free.
You can check to see if the company has a patent by looking in the ibm patent database.
This will allow you to speak to someone who actually knows the law and you will know if you are safe or not.
Look in the yellow pages under attorneys, there should be some free legal referral services listed.
I have a fast internet connection, I wish there was some way that I could rent videos and view them over the internet.
Anyone know of a website that does this?
Like a network of irc servers, there must be some Pier-to-Pier replacement for napster?
If each user on the napster server could also be a server, then there would be no way that they could "Shut it down".
Also, I think that napster should be protected by the same law that protects ISPs from users who infringe on copywrites.

Did gateway just buy amiga for the name? Amiga's were very nice machines, hopefully gateway will keep there "Neatness" alive.

Anyone want to take a bet that this doesn't make it out in the time frame above?

Lets hope that the Borg Collective does not eat up our nice little site.
Now I can finally check my email from the linux box. The company I work for doesn't allow pop3 or smtp!
