I've used way too many different SCM systems in my career (CMS on a vax, PCMS on a vax, CVS, ClearWaste, sorry ClearCase, sccs, rcs), they all have good and bad points. From a developer's point of view, all the tools that management like are hated by the developers. People making these tools seem to forget that if the tool gets in the way of the developers job or is so awkward to use, he won't use it. CVS is the best of the bunch (IMO) at letting the developer do his main job of developing code.
My opinion, feel free to disagree; opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one.
Funny how all the millions of Outlook Express mail viruses (virii?) have yet to affect anyone running any form or Unix/Unix-like system. We had one run around about a month ago, good old Pine let me save it as a text file, which we could see was a VBS file. So we warned everyone else, but, Outlooks "open attachments automatically" really "helped"
The best part about OSS or Linux or FreeBSD is it provides a CHOICE. Does whatever you are using work well for YOU? If so, then who cares what someone else uses? For the record, I've had a non-M$ home for at least 6 years now, using Linux and Macs, but sorry to say, currently FreeBSD and Macs.
I am speaking from experience. I've done this for about 5 years now. In the US, the one of the keys is to add "us,ppp," in front of the username/login id: jsmith becomes us,ppp, jsmith As part of the recent buyouts of Netcom (ICG) they were upgrading a lot of servers, with fancy switches/routers to handle ISDN and analog modem on the same phone number. This caused lots of problems because it was looking for PAP authentication. Just follow the howtos (also some pointers in the linux-ppp mailing list) and don't forget the "us,ppp," as part of the username.
Anyone wanting a little bit more info send email to mremski@ix.netcom.com or mremski@aspi.net.

So the Aussies are trying to make it easier for Santa to deliver gifts to extra-terrarestials?
Personally, I like Bowmore Darkest or the 12yr old, with the occaisonal The MacAllen tossed in.
Well, keep this in mind:
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
Then again, some people are "opinions"

Only one problem:
Has anyone ever actually worked for a "practical manager?"
Funny, I got a JavaScript error as soon as the site started up.
