  1. Re:What's the downside to using X11? on Aqua OpenOffice.org v2.0 Cancelled · · Score: 1
I can't paste text from Firefox into OpenOffice, because there's no common clipboard between X11 and Aqua. May it would work if I used the X11 version from Firefox...

On my Mac I just use [command]-c to copy and either [command]-v or Middle-Button-Click to paste, depending on whether the target is Aqua or X, respectively. If you don't have a 3-button mouse, you can use a combination of [control]-[option]-click to paste in X.

  2. You can call me Ray on Best Buy: 20% Of Customers Are Wrong · · Score: 1
I stopped shopping at Best Buy after they outsourced their entire IT department. But it was only a matter of time before I would have stopped anyway. In our area their employees are dolts and they were always pushing the extended warrantees.

And I am a "Ray" since I have 2 kids and have had to become a bargain shopper because kids are expensive.

Did anyone else who read the article think it extravagent that the CEO has an apartment in Trump Tower? Especially since they're based in the Minneapolis area?

I am not a car mechanic or an electrician, but if my car alarm and door locks stop working, I take it to a mechanic who can fix it.

Clearly you're not a physicist. Most of the ones I've worked for, some of whom are also at the pole, are convinced that:
since physics is one bad mamajama of a difficult subject, and as they've kicked that bad mamajama's ass, they are gods among men, seemingly privy to the unknown secrets of the universe.

They hire IT people not because IT is too difficult for them to do on their own, but too mundane. Please don't make the mistake of telling them how things should be done.

(yes Mad Max had a roots supercharger, but to my knowledge, neither can be switched on and off without serious side effects)

I suspect that the more expensive coffees were ground and brewed differently, (finer and longer) allowing for better extraction of their caffeine content.

  6. Re:Demanding bandwidth? on Swedish Pirate Demo · · Score: 1
In Estonia internet (knowledge) access is by law a human right.

While I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I do think their priorities are misplaced seeing as Estonia currently has one of the highest rates of new HIV/AIDS infections in the world.
    See the UN's report: http://www.undp.sk/hiv/

Perhaps they could make needle exchange, sex education, health care and condom distribution programs a higher priority?

That said, they do have some very nice internet cafes with great bandwidth, once you get used to their funky keyboard layouts.
