Initially, I was skeptical about the reports about terrorism and whatnot the Bush Administration has been putting out, but after this news, I'm not so sure. Celestial bodies have a strange tendency to bring out the fanatic in people, whether it's the increased crime rates on full moons or the cult suicides surrounding the Halebop comet event.
I'll be on the look out. The whole Iraq thing has the Muslims all wound up. This extra factor might just be the breaking point.
But as a conoiseur of fine pornography, I find that I can barely manage to keep up with the amount of mail I collect through various mailing lists on my own server. Those attachments can really add up!
I think 1 GB is certainly a generous offer, maybe even overkill for the average user, but for their more hardcore clientele, I think this will just be a tempting, but ultimately unsatisfying offer.
Hired by the very company he fought so hard against.
Well, I wish him luck in his new career. Business is business, even if it's Microsoft. Maybe someday he'll see the light and write a tell-all expose about Microsoft's "competitive" business practices.
But Americans are not eager to have their fates decided by foreign voters, especially if those voters are using easily compromised devices made by shady corporations.
If you distrust government like any good American should, you're going to distrust a world government twice as much. Sorry, it's just common sense.
As a recording artist, I have a lot of friends who were directly impacted by this whole thing. In fact, a friend of a friend lost an entire album worth of his stuff when his hard drive crapped out a couple weeks after MP3.com closed down and supposedly deleted all the music. I suppose he might be able to recover his old recordings now, but of course with all the attendent red tape, it will be an uphill battle.
With all the copyright issues and flipflopping, you can never tell where you stand as an artist. One minute you have a deal, the next minute they screw you. This is just another example. More than anything else, we need consistent, principled application of copyright policy, not companies who "deleted it before they decided to keep it" or whatever's going on here.
Pretty amazing that one guy from Finland started the whole Linux movement. It's testament to the open source concept. It keeps getting better. Soon it'll overtake MS and maybe (distant future) even Apple.
Microsoft is finally getting its comeuppance. Little by little it's reaping the rewards of its shady business practices and sexist hiring policy. According to Wired, Microsoft's workforce is some 80% men. 80%, in this day and age is just inexcusable.
I hope to see a million cases like this one. One day our court system will bring us just business and hiring practices!
