Nope. Lithium is an alkali metal. Alkali metals ignite on contact with water. The more active ones (Cesium most of all) violently explode. I imagine a small puncture in a battery could let in enough atmospheric water vapor to ignite a battery.
Do not ever say "lol" on slashdot again, do you understand me? Never. This is my sanctuary from the rest of the internet. If you ruin it I will hunt you down. Same goes for not capitalizing, needlessly doubling question marks, and smileys, to a lesser extent. This is not AIM.
By the way, the folders are fucking ENCRYPTED. You can't decrypt data by saying "THIS IS YOUR ADMINISTRATOR, OPEN UP!"
You shouldn't pity, but hate. People like him are perpetuating the system, and indeed allowing it to get worse at a very fast pace. They're making life worse for you and other people smarter than him. Remember the system in Fahrenheit 451? The people WANTED it. People like the OP.
Driving while on a cell phone will never be as safe as driving while not on a cell phone, no matter how good your priorities are. You don't seem to believe that, so I won't argue further. I just hope I never meet you on a slick road.
First of all, I do the responsible thing. I'm an introvert anyway, so I prefer music to mindless conversation.
Secondly, it's been said a hundred times at least - people wearing earbuds who think that helps are worse than people who do nothing, because they think they're safe.
By the way, this is a scientific penomenon I'm describing - it's not just me, EVERYONE is more distracted when conversing with an absent person. You *do* remember that you're commenting on an article demonstrating how unsafe cell-phone drivers are, right? Because if you forgot, I can remind you. Just let me know.
Being an asshole only escalates the situation if it's with another asshole of greater magnitude, and you find yourself unable to be a bigger asshole. I work with children 4-8, and formerly assumed they listen to raised voices without question because they're children. Then I found it works on 20 year olds too (I'm 18). Most people are sheep, and they want to obey.
And yet, teacher's don't get paid to teach teenagers that people you hate can cause you pain. They get paid to teach American History, math, biology, etc. And they do a pretty crappy job in most cases, leading to things like this icon.
I wasn't advocating staring at your passenger's mouth while you drive. Conversation with a passenger is less distracting than on a phone because of the clarity of sound. The poor sound quality, in addition to the lack of visual cues, make cell phone conversations _much_ more distracting than most other distractions.
The radio, passenger, beautiful day, and pair of tits are really, really, really, ridiculously less distracting than a conversation with a person who isn't present. In addition to having to process the conversation and formulate replies, when the conversation is on the phone it requires much more brainpower just to process the sound because of the lack of visual cues. They're very important to speech processing, and in a phone conversation they aren't present.
Also, beautiful days aren't preventable, cell phone conversations are. So it's a pretty weak point.
Which works out for the pickpockets - they'd rather steal from guys going to strip clubs with a grand in cash than risk their freedom for twenty bucks.
All the time people here on Slashdot complaint that Joe Average doesn't know shit about protecting his own computer/connection, but when that exact information is delivered... right to their front doors...
...using MY tax money... (Well, not mine exactly, as I don't live in Colorado)
it's still not good enough for some people.
I can only wait for the tinfoilhat-posts who will condemn this project, because 'they' might also snoop on your browsing!!!!oneeleven!!!
Well, they're equipping police cars with wifi antennas and automated software to detect access points... you have to admit that's ripe for abuse.
But my final point is more disturbing than all of this. We now NEED the CIA and NSA. We need them to stop some super pissed of terrorist obtaining a nuclear device from Pakistan (Definately have nukes unlike Iran) or Iran (Maybe have nukes but definately dont like us) and blowing us up with it. All they have to do is smuggle the nuke onto a plane bound for the US from some third world country.
I liked your post, but take issue with that part. The CIA and NSA aren't necessary to stop a pissed-off terrorist with a nuke - just a few people with Geiger counters screening international flights at each airport is all.
No. The parameters of string theory can be bent far enough to encompass almost any observation predictable by other current theories. String theory can't predict anything reliably as a result, and can't be tested. That's why it's a disaster for modern physics. RTFA or STFU.
Reread your post - you described a direct sequence of events showing the Revolution was caused by taxation. The colonies had to pay for the war, but had no representation - a problem with the tax system. They tried to fix it for quite a while with no success because the king was a dick. After the Boston Tea Party, the political war turned into martial law, which ended in the American Revolution. The people's lives got continuously worse and the government continuously more oppressive until a revolution intervened, as it always seems to be.
Those are good points. That said, almost all those instances you mentioned required trade-off. When the slaves were freed, states lost their sovreignty. When segregation ended, the government gained the right to regulate private businesses to an insane extent. When the patriot act was scaled back, it just gave retarded neocons the right to say "See? we compromised... we gave you back some of your provisions, now let us keep some of ours!"
People can definitely regain some rights without revolution, but I think it may be impossible to regain all rights in general. The slaves, gladiators, and POWs of Rome lived more and more crappily until the Empire fell apart at the seams. The American colonies had to fight a war just to fix the tax system, which they'd fought continuously to reform for decades through the proper channels. The Berliners had to physically kick down the wall in 1991 to finally see their relatives. The people of the USSR managed to get their leaders to partially convert the Union to capitalism, which led to its fall, but their lives just got worse.
You can only get it back by seizing it. I can't think of a single historical society in which the people have regained rights on a large scale without revolution. I'm not advocating revolution, but I'm going to start to protect my privacy physically - don't EVER assume that someone won't tell. Remember, if you put something private in a safe, pack the front door with nitrocellulose, and wire it to explode when it detects tampering, nobody *can* violate your privacy, even if they want to.
Shit, you're right. I thought Lithium-ion batteries had lithium metal. My bad.

You've been here for four years and you still haven't noticed that replies to below-threshold comments are reparented?
That's exactly what I have. I just graduated from a Catholic school, in Florida. You can guess how much faith I have in other people.

"Hello, Vegas? Give me a hundred bucks on red... d'oh! ... All right, I'll send you a check."
It's "V for Vendetta".

terrorist attacks have far greater and far reaching consequences than the mundane tragedies of life that you bring up.
Because people like you make it so.
Well shit, if the unsupported assertions of Christianity are from 60 AD, then there's no way I could possibly question them!
Uh... right next to the arrow? Is this a troll? Please for the love of Poseidon tell me this is a troll.

Yes, good point... because gravitons are detectable and all...
