This is surprising and saddening that Digg would do this. Digg has become my favorite web site--it replaced/. a while back, sorry--and this makes me really lose respect for the Digg crew.
Didn't Ben Franklin say something like "He who wouldn't trade a few silly liberties for the security of thier nation isn't a good Christian." Or something like that?
If the US Justice Department can coordinate such an effort among 11 different nations and justice systems, why can't we find Osama Bin Laden?
Bin Laden didn't pirate Star Wars did he? What do you think the Department of Homeland Security is supposed to be doing? They can't be bothered with people like Bin Laden when the real threat is people downloading MP3's. Read down the article for DHS involvement info.
I've always wondered why credit card companies don't simply cancel and re-issue cards when somthing like this happens. I read in the MSNBC article that it costs $10.00 per card to do that, which means this particular incident would cost the credit card companies about $400,000,000.00 to reissue cards. That is a ton of money!
Yeah, I think Southwest has a good thing going. I've had the most pleasant experiences flying Southwest recently. Much better than the competition. USAir is teh suck!
And just whos side is the electronics industry (e.g. computer and computer part makers, TV set makers etc). Obviously companies like Sony are a different kettle of fish alltogether:)
I think you may have answered your own question. Lots of the giant companies, like Sony, have interest in both IP and hardware. They have to strike a delicate balance between making as much money as possible from IP and making as much money as possible from hardware. The bottom line is, as always, to make as much money as possible.
The radical right activist reportedly told Microsoft it had better pull its support for the gays or anti-gay bigots would launch a nationwide boycott of Microsoft, and guess what - Microsoft caved. A single anti-gay jerk, and Microsoft chose to reverse over ten years of policy and bash gays.
Ok, is it just me or does that paragraph just not make sense. Microsoft has millions of customers, and I hardly thing one voice (no matter how loud or how Christian) threatening to boycott is going to make Microsoft do anything, let along change their political stance. I mean, nearly every Slashdotter has been boycotting Microsoft for years, and it hasn't made them do anything!
It appears Adobe is moving to monopolize the multi-media software market. This purchase will allow Adobe to move to the front of the web multi-media software market, a place where they have been lacking. We all know the bad stuff that *could* happen should a monopoly occur.
One upshot of all of this may be better interoperability between products, such as easily working with images in Photoshop via Dreamweaver, etc. etc.
...fly it under 400 feet in non-restricted air space.
Flying at low altitudes (esp. less than 400 feet) is extremely dangerous, at least in conventional aircraft. This is known in pilotspeak as nap of the earth (NOE) flying. NOE flying is dangerous for a number of reasons. A couple of big ones are hitting objects like power lines, trees, towers, etc. Poor visibility can make this even more dangerous. Another reason is you have much, much less time to react if something goes wrong if you are flying close to the ground. It may seem counterintuitive, but the higher you fly, the safer you are.

Yet another reason is the terraserver-usa.com maps are black and white. Google's are in color. Plus, Google's interface is 10^100 times better!
Dinosaur cloning will not happen! First what species would act as a surrogate without the surrogate's immune system attacking the dinosaur inside?
If we get around this problem, viruses and bacteria have had 70+ million years of evolution, while dinosaur immune systems would be same as they were when they "ruled the earth." Any cloned dinosaur would die immediately from the flu, as their immune systems would be incapable of dealing with today's bugs.
Jurassic Park would be awesome to see, but we certainly won't see it in our life time!
I'll recap, 00squirrel's SOLE basis to use Windows versus Linux was because everyone eles uses it. That's NOT a good reason. If everyone one else uses a knife instead of a screw driver, should I stop using a screw driver too?
No, but remember, non-geeks just want to get work done. They don't care about Linux vs. Windows or how much more intelligent and ethical Linux users are. So if we teach students Linux in high school, great, they'll know Linux. But what happens when they get to college and can't find a single Linux computer to work on? They have to re-learn Windows and Word. Something most non-technical majors don't want, or need, to deal with.
And then guess what? They're opinion of Linux is going to be even more negative!
I know this won't fly over well with most of the/. crowd, but students would be much better served by a Windows lab. I taught computer literacy at my local university in graduate school and we were a 100% Microsoft shop. In fact, every university lab that I have visited is a 100% Microsoft shop.
It's an injustice to teach kids Linux, especially the non-geeks. Non-geeks just want to get work done, and when they hit college they are going to have to relearn Windows/Office to get their assignments done. Just a fact of life folks!

Not trolling, just pissed!

Pretty exciting stuff! (Relatively speaking, of course :-)

Let me put forward a little statistic of my own, gathered from what I've seen over the last few years as a network admin.
Number of computers compromised as a result of IE usage: 8 this year. Number of computers compromised as a result of Firefox usage: 0 (ever)
One upshot of all of this may be better interoperability between products, such as easily working with images in Photoshop via Dreamweaver, etc. etc.
Should be interesting to watch, to say the least.

No, The Guide is always correct. It is reality that is often wrong!
That means I can't access #XXXpr0n+Warez
Umm, yes dinosaurs were hatched from eggs. But the egg had to first develop inside the mother, before it was laid.
This is a test? Can't figure out why my comments have a starting score of 0.
