Have you tried ordering from the likes of Dell recently? Just go through the motions, no need to actually buy. You can still get XP, but its specified as "Genuine Windows® Vistaâ Ultimate with XP Professional installed". Says it all about Vista sales figures as far as I'm concerned.
XP takes 15 (streamlined SP3 googness included). Debian about the same (final update to todays version depends on your internet connection speed though). You say Vista takes 20, I've seen Ubuntu take 30 minutes plus. Anyone noticing a pattern here? Peak oil^Winstall!?
Find out the source, and contact their provider. Unless you're close hop wise, or their provider is an ass, or they are the provider themselves (but then you have bigger issues). Of course it may take a while to determine the source...
Cracking DRM is illegal in some countries. Is George Ou saying its better to break the law in this way than not have access to certain media? If that is the case, then why bother buying and cracking at all, its far easier to download it from the piratebay. You avoid the hassle of having to crack the DRM and the cost of having to buy the media/DRM software tax. Its just as illegal either way.
