"We could replace nuclear power-and coal and other dirty forms of producing power-with the abundance of solar energy which shines on our country."

Specifically the problem with this is that the ammount of damage to the environment caused by producing solar arrays capable of competing with nuclear power completely dwarf the nuclear waste from the reactor.

Thus: Green party == idiot (IMHO)

While I realise the above statement may be flamebait, I can't see how the more polluting technology is preferable to an environmental group. Also the land area used by solar is much greater than nuclear, even accounting for the storage of waste.

Lucas will still have *lots* of control as producer. With that control will come mucking about with the directors ideas.

Star Trek was good, the movies, TOS, TNG, but after that things got too drawn out. DS9 was fine when it was part of TNG plotline, but as those diverged both suffered. I won't go beyond those series because I think that's when things really went downhill.

My big concern with a Star Wars series is that it's going to be like Voyager was. Little purpose other than some T&A, along with some continuous plotline that got very monotonous very fast.

Finally as a previous poster mentioned it will be impossible to please all the fanatics out there, and honestly I think they should not try. The mini director in me says break out the Amiga video toaster and get going on the animations. If you can't do it on a Toaster it shouldn't be in the series. I realize that the Toaster wasn't around for the original movies, but if the series used the old effects styles it would take forever to produce and edit each episode (not to mention it'd be too campy).

Though not easily portable I have a 15W CO2 laser, which could be rigged up in a pickup bed quite simply. Put a camper shell over it and it'd be quite hard to figure out where the beam came from. Setup time would be roughly 1/2 hour from when the vehicle quits moving. There is no teardown time so you could shoot and run. I was able to pick up nearly everything for under $200 surplus. I've got to figure even larger rigs are easily acquired.

I rarely watch movies in the theater (I hate crowds for one, and don't have the disposable income for another). This is one that I will be in line for, if only to add a couple bucks to Mel's pocket and to let the movie conglomerates know that real comedy is still sellable.
