Are you forgetting about monopoly laws? Microsoft is already getting slapped around by the EU. Alowing only their own programs to be "approved" you only dig them a deeper hole.
Did everyone forget about iPod Lnux? Or have the majority of you guys just never heard of it?
Its an open source project dedicated to running Linux on an iPod. Check it out, as it is very interesting.
This technology could be easily paired up with some sort of pass-code (Like the PIN number you use with a debit card), and it would be even more secure. Sure, it may be easy to dupe a fingerprint, but with the added pass-code, it would be much harder to fraudulantly use.
Personally, I would never trust my financial assets on a finger-print alone. I think the only bio-metric device I would trust alone without some additional form of security is a retinal scanner.
All this recent talk of cost of operation differences between linux and windows is complete nonsence. Sure, to an en-experienced linux admin, properly configuring linux and setting up everything to work smoothly may be quite time consuming and therefore seem to be quite expensive to the owner of a company.
On the other hand, if an experienced linux admin is running the show, everything should run smoothing, efficiently and be rather cost effective.
The linux distro also has a bit of influence on the cost. Thru personal experience I've learned certain distros are harder and more time consuming to setup, run and maintain. Whereas other distros, or homebrew distros can be extremely easy, and again, cost effective.
Or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Confirmed here. Excel 12.0.6024.5005 and Vista.
