Your basic argument is that kids think acting like they are involved in world politics is "cool." Err... no. I was a child just a few years ago, and I recall nothing of the sort. The people who cared about politics did so because it was in their personalities. Just because they are young and often misguided in how to go about it (holding parties instead of listening to NPR) does not mean they are not trying.

I used to agree with what you are saying regarding Tibet, but I actually found that kids under 21 knew more about Tibet than the typical adult due to "Free Tibet" campaigns. They really do pick something up. Kids can't do much about anything in politics (they're not even allowed to vote), but that doesn't mean we should look down on them for trying. Remember, it sounds corny, but they are the future. By holding concerts and other crap that appeals to kids, this stuff is being made accessible to the youth.

And it's not like older generations are much better.

A lot of people read digital watches in a similar manner that you read an analog. I can't explain it, but I usually don't "read" the time when I look at my digital watch. If you asked me what time it was right after I look at my watch , I would be able to tell you "around 2ish?" at best. It takes me a small fraction of a second to look at my watch.

I actually own a analog/digital Casio that displays both the time and day of week (date is a button away). Amazon has several, some that display the full date with the time. The only reason why I have the analog is so people stop considering me a nerd for having a digital watch - a decent compromise in my opinion. I am a recent college graduate and found people don't respect people with digital watches.

Maybe 50% of the people I knew copied homeworks, and I only know of one person who ever cheated on an exam.

A lot of cheating is in a gray area. For example, getting help from other students could be considered cheating by some and not by others. I know it sounds corny, but the person who is hurt most by cheating is that student. Even in a curved class, most professors are a bit flexible with grading so other students are not too affected by cheating.

It certainly seems like this clearly fits the criteria for a tort claim, but I'd love to hear some legal interpretation from the law bloggers out there. Apple, in many ways, depends on the iPod for its current strength. If the iPod were to suddenly die, Apple would be very, very screwed (the only other product that has mass appeal is the macbooks, and those are not nearly at the same level due to pricing). This is why people have been watching "iPod killers" so closely.

Personally, this is the first time ever that I would not consider an iPod if I had to replace my current MP3 player (an iPod mini). The nanos are overpriced compared to competitors who offer more features and more space. I would seriously consider SanDisk's new player, for example.

And as the article mentions, cellphones are starting to become a feasible replacement. I could replace both my current cell phone and iPod with a single phone that takes a memory card. It wouldn't hold as much (that will come in a year, I predict), but it would take up a lot less pocket space.

When I first bought my iPod 2 years ago, none of these were feasible alternatives. Competitors had crappy flimsy products that were too big for my pocket, and cell phones that "tried to do it all" just sucked. Not anymore...
