By the logic that Open Source == must run on Linux, you could say all the following statements are true:
I wrote some configuration utilities for BSD and released them under the GPL. They don't work on Linux, so they aren't Open Source.
I wrote a game in (insert obscure language) for (insert obscure platform) and released it under GPL, but it doesn't work on Linux, so it's not Open Source.
See how stupid that sounds? Just because it doesn't work on Linux does not mean it isn't open source.
You could theoretically spam MSN or AOL today (GAIM & others have implemented it, documentation for the MSN protocol is everywhere). So if you could spam it, why is no one doing it?
A) There are settings in MSN (not sure about AOL) allowing you to only accept messages from people on your contact list. This means only people that YOU want can contact you. B) 13 year olds don't buy Viagra.
A website can be IE and Mozilla\Opera\Konquerer\Safari\Etc. compliant. I believe the argument was against pages that were only compatible with IE and no other browser.
Perhaps it's a problem with something else? I read Slashdot just as much (if not more) than the next guy, and I've never had Firefox lock up at all, never mind on Slashdot.
Seriously now, Apache vs. IIS. Irregardless of platform, Apache will win hands down. Why? IIS is a fucking security nightmare! It has nothing to do with market share and everything to do with the fact that Apache is simply better written & more secure.
All but the most trivial programs will have security problems, these days it's a fact of life, but I don't think anyone with much experience in computer security could look me in the eye and tell me IIS is more secure than Apache.
I'm just repeating myself now, but I'll say it anyways: It has nothing to do with market share, a lot of Microsoft products are simply poorly written in regards to security.
When I'm not using it, I just bend the part with the lens down so it points at my desk. If someone *really* wants to look at my desk, they can go right ahead.
Well, they can bomb a crowded supermarket with several hundred innocent people, or they can bomb the whitehouse, still hit many innocent people, but also hit politicians at the same time. Either way innocent people day, just one way politcians die too.
It seems you believe very strongly that 9/11 was all an elaborate hoax, as do I, so I figure if you haven't already read this, you might be interested in it.
I'm not even American, so I'm not really biased either way and may be talking out of my ass, but AFAIK Kerry voted to invade Iraq if the UN supported it. Although, I agree with you, it isn't even the lesser of two evils anymore, both parties seem more or less identical.
"What colour is this square:" (random red, green or blue square) "Select the colour of the square from the buttons below, and click 'go'. If you are colour blind, blind or anything else that prevents you from seeing this image, here's a hint: it's (colour) O Red O Green O Blue [Go]"
The day an address collection bot gets through that to my address, I'll give them permission to spam it. (It's fine, I'll just change the addr on my website, and delete the old account.)
Isn't that handy! I already have enough messages in my inbox since yesterday that I can probably train it pretty damn well. Those ~3500 messages will do it wonders!
Wow... isn't that ironic. While classifying the messages, I found one from the 'Christian Ideals Foundation', offering to give me a loan. The domain of the return address sells herbal viagra, and the address they sent the message to has only been given out to a porn site (just one porn site... every place I give out my address (porn or not) gets a diffirent one). How's that for Christian Ideals?
You're right, it's not theft. It's copyright infringement.
Theft is, let's say, when I come into your house and steal a book. You no longer have this book to read and enjoy. Copyright infringement is when I come into your house and photocopy the book. You still have the book to read and enjoy, but the publisher just lost a sale (if the book is still in print).
So far all the songs I've heard haven't been that good. I've only listened to a couple, though. As for download speed, my guess is your connections might have simply been slow. It takes me about 30 seconds to download most of these songs.

12 points. Although, looking at that site I feel it should have much, much more...
"At the same time as we banish sudo, let us also banish the requirement that only root can bind to ports lower than 1024, and remove many other root-only restrictions."
Sure, I'll program that for ya right after I play Duke Nukem Forever on my GNU/Hurd box.
I believe it is another term for "dimwitted fool".

Yes, but I doubt messages from forums have 20+ mispellings.
(Heh, this took forever to type (4 minutes or so), as I am just learning the DVORAK layout on a QWERTY keyboard. Fun, fun.)

PDF displays more or less the same on all platforms (within reason), does it not?
ND
How about the one where the game runs SO FSCKING FAST it goes straight from "Hit Space to Start" to "Sammy Dies!" instantly ;)
ND
Agreed, everyone seems to be confused about this.

(Cue BSD is dead trolls.)

It wouldn't make a diffirence, I couldn't go out and register a company called "G00GLE", now could I?
ND
Yeah, same here. You can reach me via MSN, AIM, YIM, ICQ, Jabber and IRC. Gaim comes in *very* handy in a situation like this :)

Hah! You think the mods actually read Slashdot themselves?!? They don't even read the article summaries for cripes sakes!

Here's a picture of my webcam.
When I'm not using it, I just bend the part with the lens down so it points at my desk. If someone *really* wants to look at my desk, they can go right ahead.

I'm pretty sure you could, AFAIK it's a quote from Bash.org.

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a rant by George Carlin on Airport Security (Be nice to my server :) ).
You'll hear the audience laugh but I find some of what he says quite chilling, as it is all true.

I simply put up something like this:
"What colour is this square:"
(random red, green or blue square)
"Select the colour of the square from the buttons below, and click 'go'. If you are colour blind, blind or anything else that prevents you from seeing this image, here's a hint: it's (colour)
