The problem with games is that a big part of a good game is the artwork and gamedesign. IMHO most of the FOSS projects consists of programmers, who have litle, or no ability to do good gamedesign/artwork.
Also, a program is a pice of software you can use again and again and improve all the time. While a game is something you'll just delete when your done with it, and so people don't stick with it like a community
I know that there are some OpenSource 3d-game-engines, but i've not found any mature FPS games with nice artwork/gameplay.
IMHO, the dream situation would be if someone would make a really good MMORPG, based on some kind of P2P tech. so you didn't need centralized servers. And then attract lots of players/developers who would contribute to make it rally good:)
Actualy it's not the top/bottom that is cut of, but the sides. The result is a zoomed in verson of a wide picture.
IIRC The framing of the film is desided by the cinematographer, who makes a decision i cooperation with the director. When you pan-scan a film, you actualy destroy parts of the artistic choices made by the cinematographer/director.
It's like choping the head of "Mona Lisa"(classic painting by Leonardo DaVinci) to make the painting fit inside a frame.
If/When windows-update denies pirated versons of windows, people with pirated versons, who can't get security updates can risk having their machines turned into spam zombies.
And then every one on the internet will have a problem when the net is flooded with spam from unpatched zombies.
Or we can hope that people will switch to something some people consider a better OS when they no longer get updates from MS.

A norwegian company who specialices in exhibition designs use a procedure to project images on walls in smal spaces, or curved surfaces.
They build the room or sphere in a 3d program, and maps the wall with the images they will project.
Then place the camera where the projector will be placed, and render.
Now you have a video you can project that will fit the wall precicely.
The aritcle is wery redhat specific.

Is SFU GPL'd?
How does this work, you are able to download SFU from Microsoft, but can you also get the source?
"Innovision says it's getting ready for when mobile users will be able to download music tracks by just tapping their device against a poster"
This is sci-fi. And i even think RIAA will be able to get money from this. (don't know if i like that)
There is noting digital about the camera. It says in the article that the film is scanned after beeing proccessed.
