While I can't read the story because the server is currently in flames, the plot summary does sound a bit interesting. I like the idea of a world where superman, isn't needed. Having said that, he'll be needed by the end of the film. And couldn't they have gotten the same actors to reprise their roles? Except Christopher Reed of course, what with him being bound to a wheelchair before dying. In fact, the only one who IS reprising his role is Marlon Brando. And he's been dead for a year now. Now THERE'S dedication to his role.
I brought my playstation console in 1997, and it still works fine. Having said that, I know many people (who brought it at the same time as me) had to do the whole "turn it upside down" thing. That was back in 2000. Funnily enough, they also had their playstations modded so that they could play copied games. Whereas I didn't. Every friend I had who had their playstation modded had problems with it. I never have. I suppose it's possible some people had problems with un-modded playstations, but I never heard of them. I think it's obvious what the culprit was there. Remember kids, crime doesn't pay.
Which I'm not stopping. However having said that, I have yet to see someone post anonymously because their government tried to stop free speech. Having said that, Americans do occassionally claim to be posting AC because of their employer, which leads me to my next point....
some anonymous because the poster is fearful of their job.
But they offer no proof or facts to their point. Only hearsay. I could post anonymously and claim to be an employer of whoever the article is about and attack them. But that doesn't make it true. It's impossible to know if someone is telling the truth about an employer when they don't provide any proof (which most of them don't), so their post is meaningless.
And there are a lot of great anonymous comments posted,
I've found the majority of ACs post in order to flame or post a slashdot meme. The amount of "in soviet russia" posts I've had to put up with has lessened considerably, as has the amount of flame-bait. Perhaps I was just missing all these great AC posts.
Works fine in Firefox. So I'd hardly say "Safari is the only stable browser it works in" unless you're trying to imply Firefox isn't stable (now if you meant the underlying structure of Safari and Firefox is the same, it would have made sense to say that, rather then just one particular browser, which is normally considered independant to Firefox).
This game is being developed but doesn't have much direction at this time, to make a suggestion email me. The gun is copyright by FarCry
And you can expect to be in trouble now that you've been slashdotted (I expect the legal document will come just as you finish putting out the fire your server caused). Even if it was only tempporary, lawyers have funny ways of dealing with copyright infringement. Which is sad, but protected by the law.
Why the fuck would you want you fucking mouse to do this ? A mouse is there for interactivity in a GUI, or more generally to represent the analogy between hand movements and virtual movements.
I never knew talking about mice could be so arousing... wait. That came out wrong...
People with too much money to spend and not enough brains to spend it on something worthwhile. So I guess your average American fits at least one of the criterias;)
I would not really apreaceate my mouse blinking (or vibrating for that matter) while I'm playing a game.
It would depend on who the person was for me (assuming you can specify a particular person which the summary does suggest). Some people are more important then games.
Hey, Logitech! I'm a big guy with big paws. How about making a wired optical mouse with two buttons and one wheel that's about 50% larger than every mouse you currently make?
Why don't you just amputate your hands and get prosthetics? Sheeesh. People always expect companies to do all the work for them. People should get out of their chair and do something themself for once. Hell, I'm going to head over to your place right now and chop off your hands myself.
I don't think it's too far fetched to assume that someone is spamming with the intention to post inflammatory/poorly written stories to/. to drive ad revenue, apart from the editors of course.
Yes, but which editors are doing it? The CTZ ones, or the slashdot ones? Or perhaps in a crazy co-incidence, both? Slashdot benefits from controversial articles that piss off the readers, because angry readers post. Hell, they've done a pretty half-ass job with this one, and already they've gotten two extra posts from it.
OK, I'll bite to be the first: "But does it work in Linux?":)
I know this has become a "joke" (and I use the term very loosely) here at slashdot, but the company most likely did a cost-profit anaylsis, and decided against providing Linux drivers. Until Linux gets more mainstream usage at the home, you can't expect everything to run in Linux. Until then, you'll have to continue to write your own drivers.
Actually (despite the unethicality of IMing at work when not allowed) you bring up a good point. People who play games often don't see the IM window (and having those pop-ups for everyone is annoying when trying to play a game). But if you get IM'd specifically by a person you want to talk with, you can stop the game.
Having said that, it would make more sense for IM programs to add this functionality. A mouse is reaching a bit.
Well, like other forms of battling cancer, this does have negative side-effects that could kill the host. Just as chemo can kill people if administered in incorrect amounts and WILL have serious health consequences no matter how it's administered, so does alcohol. Alcohol can become lethal, but regardless will have serious consequences when administered (some side-effects are broken arms, becoming pregnant, acting like a jack-ass and waking up next to an ugly person).
Although having said that, they have lessened the dangers in the treatment.
Wow. That's bizarre. If the "new worms" do show the trained characteristics, then it does go to show that memory can be stored quite differently in organisms. And isn't reliant upon a brain (do these types of worms even have brains?). I've heard of genetic memory, but I've never known if there was definite proof for it. This, while it might not be genetic memory, is a memory of a different kind.
People in those places probably have more immediate concerns than cancer.
No. All of their problems are a cancer. Although beer will unfortunately only counteract the biological kind.... err. wait. I didn't mean that how it sounded.....
I never cut a worm in half in science. Perhaps I was away that day (I never cut ANYTHING in science, I know I purposely took a day off to avoid dissecting a frog one time). Besides which, I'm pretty sure it only works with SOME worms, because I do remember cutting a worm in half, and I'm pretty sure it died.
So while I never learnt it in science, I didn't let that stop me from performing my own experiments (although when I did it, we didn't have a science class).
And this is a perfect example of why I don't read ACs, let alone respond (normally. I bothered to read your comment cause I'm waiting for something).
The article is where I found out, a worm sliced in two becomes two worms (I'm not too sure about that new part. How do they determine what a new worm is? Do worms have any higher level functions that are able to be used to differentiate one worm from another?). I did a quick google search and snopes search to see if the article was complete bunk and that a worm cut in half DOESN'T result in two new worms. But everything I saw said that, they do in fact result in two worms. So I gave the article the benefit of the doubt (although I do still have my doubts, I can't be bothered to look for a source that I -definitely- know is authoritive).
Just because it appears at slashdot (even if it's in an article slashdot points to), doesn't mean it's true.
I'm not sure why I'm getting called William Shatner, but yes I did enjoy Mystery Men the first time round.

Agreed. Movie producers will get a new job when their current one stops reeling in the dough. And not one minute before.

It was a joke. Unfortunately the mods are still on crack, which is why I hide modding.
Free speech is being able to speak anonymously,

Yay, a platform-independent way of senselessly killing innocent people!
Woah! We get to kill real living sacks of dirty water? Neat! How does it work? remote operation?
Actually there are no fair use laws in Australia. Thanks for playing.

I can see it now. Labels on beer cans will now include "WARNING: Do not operate heavy machinery after ingesting."
People in those places probably have more immediate concerns than cancer.
No. All of their problems are a cancer. Although beer will unfortunately only counteract the biological kind.... err. wait. I didn't mean that how it sounded.....
That's terrible! You're a horrible, horrible person. MOD THE PARENT UP!
So will this mean non-medicinal consumption of beer will become illegal?
