I work for big international corporation for very long time. no offense to my indian colleagues, but from purely skill point of view, indian engineer is behind the one from other countries(domestic excluded). My personal rank have to award Russian, Chinese next.

  2. two questiona for NASCAR fan on The Technology Behind Formula One · · Score: 1
I talked with another NASCAR fan once when I told him I watch F1 instead of NASCAR, he talked about how great NASCAR is and said "you can tell which team the car is immediately by just look at it", is F1 car looks all the same to NASCAR fans?

I played racing game alot, and feeling that the oval track is most boring one... any comments?

  3. SATA RAID? I pass that on Chipset Serial ATA RAID Performance Exposed · · Score: 4, Insightful
Let's talk about profermance. Most SATA drives are, still low end IDE drive, 8ms seeking is not a hit. the one SATA fanboys talking all the time is Western Digital Raptor, but, hey, they are the same price as 10K SCSI U320, what the point?

I agree Raptor are great disks, 2 of them will out run PCI bus bandwidth, would you go PCI-X for SATA raid? a good PCI-X RAID card will cost $300+ for 4 ports, no thanks, I will stay my SCSI solution.

The bottom line is SATA don't even have a BUS.

  4. It's all about choices on Is the Linux Desktop Getting Heavier and Slower? · · Score: 1

if you go with windows, you don't have choice, everything is out there, at least in modern linux dist. you can chose not to install GUI or lightweight X, or GNOME+KDE. It's all depends on enduser. For me, at office, I use X without GNOME nor KDE, change some header file and compile WindowMaker, it's very stable, fast, and looks just cool. most of I like wmaker, keyboard shortcut. But at home, no choice here....

China having XinJinag is couple of hundreds years longer than US having Texas. and for your information. "East Turkestanism" is a terrorism organization, they bomb buses and kill innocent civilians.

  8. basicly useless on Linux Filesystems Benchmarked · · Score: 1

this test didn't cover random access, and incomplete information regarding blocksize and no benchmark program involved. besides, the results are very hard to been seen. this is just another newbiz test posted into Slashdot somehow, like the one couple months back comparing U320 and SATA.
