    * If you want to play with friends, eveyone needs a different activation key, so piracy is somewhat limited.

I always think of that as the dumbest thing to prevent. The best possible introduction for a game is in multiplayer with friends, I've seen it quite often that people play a game together on a LAN and then decide to get their own copy of it. If you add special measures to prevent that they have to either go with something else (that won't net you sales) or get a fully cracked version (which leaves them with little reason to buy it). Ideally you'd WANT them to be able to play the game with friends but not once they go home again so they get a taste and have to pay to get more.

Hell, if you look at the mess the US educational system is currently demonstrating you've always got "God did it" as one of the improbable solutions and that one's definitely not disprovable (Dawkins argues that God is extremely improbable but Holmes's saying there says "no matter how improbable").

Since the chromosomes in each sperm are picked randomly it's pretty likely that any significant amount of them would contain at least one copy of each chromosome. Then again the way the chromosome sets are generated (splitting one base cell) would probably mean that sperms with exactly opposite chromosome configurations would appear pretty close to each other inside the testicle which would mean the chance of finding a whole chromosome set should be even higher than with a purely random distribution (not that you need a higher chance when you've already got millions of 50% chances and only one of them has to succeed).

Most companies make more than one game and usually these games are aimed at the same userbase. Of course a shovelware publisher would probably hope you'd just forget his name so the next time you come across one of his games you won't put it back the moment you see the name but most of the big name publishers and developers have reputations that directly affect their sales. Get a reputation for broken and unpatched games and you'll sell less of them (EA had to downsize over massive losses so don't point at them claiming "it works for them"), get a reputation for polished games and good patching and you get more sales (see Blizzard and Valve).

I'm saying that the competition there doesn't really exist. Most of the games are third party and third parties have little reason to make exclusives, especially now that they have trouble making their development investments back. Ports are cheap compared to the gain they bring so they're pretty much mandatory unless you can somehow extort a nice money hat from a console manufacturer by not doing them. Any difference between the platforms is artificial currently. It doesn't matter which one is in the lead, a 60-40 split still means you're ignoring 40% of your potential userbase by going exclusive to the bigger one while accessing that 40% would cost you pocket change.
