That's the rate online game stores (Steam, XBLA, etc) tend to charge. It's their cut as the retailer of the game, for providing the infrastructure, advertising, etc that their service offers and many people accept that trade-off. For comparison, I believe the indie license for the Unreal Engine is something like 50% of your revenue.

Farmville cannot separate from Facebook, it requires the social propagation system it has on Facebook where Farmville players effectively spam their friends with advertising for the game.

The whole business model of the game is to make money via selling stuff for real money. The game itself is free to play but it's designed to encourage players to draw friends into it and to spend real money on it. Or do you think they're running Farmville out of the goodness of their hearts?

The courts don't MAKE law, they interpret it and maybe remove it if it's against higher priority laws. When a court finds that a law enables something that's not ex-post-facto, that's saying the laws that are already on the books allow this. Since the law was in place when the crime was committed even though it may have been unclear whether the law applies there it's not an after-the-fact law.

I don't know about pesticides but I know as a kid I didn't try to eat the lawn. Hell, since when do you need pesticides on a lawn anyway? Maybe herbicides (and even that's unnecessary if you just mow it regularly) but I don't think I've ever heard of people complaining about insects damaging their lawn (only the fruit on other plants). Either way, if you lick that stuff you'll taste it (bitter/burning taste) and spit it out. If your kids chug a bottle of pesticide maybe you should have taught them about poisons.

Overall the energy use of Wii Fit is lower than that of playing outside, it works as a first motivator, not as an all-in-one solution.

Roughly every third game I've been in was lagged (most players getting yellow or red pings), the worst was when the game picked me as a host (my connection is not suitable for hosting) and didn't give me the option to pass that buck, I had to quit those matches to get rid of the hosting position. Matchmaking would usually fail 3-4 times until it would actually start a game, gets much worse when you're in a group with other people (about every second time that it connected for one of us it didn't work for the other). Then you've got the fun of cheaters that can't be thrown out and won't get an anti-cheat ban until LOOOOONG after the match is over and those stupid lengthy wait times between matches.

That doesn't work, dedicated servers and P2P matchmaking are very different approaches. With servers you get a list of servers and pick one (or the game automatically does), with P2P players are grouped into playlists and then into actual matches with a host chosen at random among the pool of selected players.
