"9-11" is composed of 3 (count 'em, three!) arabic numerals!

In fact, those dirty arabs have pervaded our way of thinking so much I used an arabic numeral without even realising. Look, up there, the "3"!

    Dammit, there it is again!

programming may not be as calorie-intensive a process as say, the iron man competition

On average, the brain uses around twenty percent of the total oxygen/energy used by a human. It's the body organ with the highest energy and oxygen demands. Biceps are not.

But simple sugars are still not good for you. Brains (as well as the rest of the body) need a steady blood sugar level, not spikes. Slowly sipping soft drinks all day doesn't count.

If a mass as large as a human body were converted into energy you would *not* burn an image into a piece of cloth. You'd probably turn the planet into a big cloud of rock and dust.

Nuclear weapons convert only a very small percentage of their reaction mass into energy, and the reaction mass is only a few kilograms to begin with. Now imagine 60 or 60 kilograms of mass being converted entirely into energy.

    BIG badda boom.

Except there aren't any additional IP addresses being used. And of course, as with most speculative damages, this fails to take into consideration the fact that many of these additional computers would not be networked for internet access at $5 per month if there were no "free" alternative available.

It's even worse than that: The extra IP addresses are not necessary when using NAT. The cable companies are complaining about not being able to charge for a resource that people don't need or want. They want to artificially create a need, then market to it.

  5. Somebody's sure still using it. on SLiRP Project Needs Maintainer · · Score: 2

I'm the SysAdmin for the machine that hosts the "Official" SLiRP homepage at http://blitzen.canberra.edu.au/slirp/. Looking through the logs reveals that people are indeed still downloading it, despite it being several years since a proper release. Something on the order of 200 to 400 FTP downloads of SLiRP related stuff a week, and 2000 to 3500 hits on the SLiRP related web pages a week.

I can probably continue to provide hosting for SLiRP should anyone choose to continue development.
