The reason these things are not turned on by default is support. The companies don't want to haev 9 out of ten people calling back and needing assistance to get their wap working. They offer the security features, but have it set to work with a minimum of fuss.

Unsecure is a perfectly cromulent word. It embigins the smallest man.

Quite a few years back I was working for NHMRC (National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia) One of the studies that we were working on was the effect of mobile phone radiation on humans. All the talk of mobile phones causing cancer is BS.

  5. Worst Accident... on What Was Your Worst Computer Accident? · · Score: 1

When at school (many a year ago now), I built a computer inside a cardboard box. All of the teachers told me it was a bad idea and it would catch on fire. I didn't believe them... Also, before the 'fire' incident, I managed to cause myself quite a painful electrocution. Sometimes teachers actually do know best.

  6. Napster and the Proverbial Straws on Napster and Best Buy Joining Forces · · Score: 5, Insightful

Napster is getting desperate now. First they offer to give away players, now they wish to give away stock. I can't see this stock going anywhere but down. These new 'plans' will not bring the needed cash in. (Too long term too many bills to pay) The online music industry is a market that has no room for napster any more. I for one am saddened by this, napster allowed me to broaden my music tastes.

Microsoft finally takes a step in the right direction, and you still critisize. Give them them the credit they deserve, it may not be much, but it is better than them raping the world.
