    However much we wish for the same treatment, it would never occur for two reasons:
    1. SCO did not cheat consumers or investors.
    2. SCO did not pre-book 20 year incomes in one year and went bankrupt.
    3. SCO's directors did not form criminal partnerships and conducted insider trading.
    4. SCO did not steal from employees.

    Enron affected many thousands of people's finances and lives directly.
    SCO affected only those investors who chose to invest in it delibrately well knowing SCO is failing.
    In Enron's case, people thought they were flying high and were lied to. SCO did no such thing.
    Fair is fair. SCO would be ground into small bits slowly by IBM lawyers, but is SCO a criminal like Enron? No.

    Before you all go criticizing FBI is like Gestapo, please stop.
    Gestapo, for all its flaws, followed the WRITTEN laws of Reich at that time meticulously.
    They NEVER violated the law of the land, and always had paperwork done. Always.
    That is why it was easier in Nuremberg trials to convict so many of them, since they left such thick paper trials.
    In FBI case, it simply wants to avoid all that...
    In way FBI is worse...

    Actually i would agree with you, if you were not wrong. Yes i agree business of business is business. Earning profits should be the only goal since anything less than that leaves you liable to be sued successfully.
    However, profits can come from honest work too. Not overcharging, underproviding, etc.
    I would be pissed off i have to pay $149 a night for Motel 8 single room middle of nowhere.

    How much money would satisfy you guys? Earning a billion, two or a trillion enough?
    After that would you guys be happy to help the rest of us come up?

    Why can't you guys follow Bill Gates who has vowed to distribute his wealth through charities before he dies?

    Have anyone of you guys ever done that?

    Ethanol and Gasoline are NOT same just like Goat's milk and Cow's milk are not same.

    Ethanol benefits farmers who can now send their wards to colleges.

    Gasoline benefits S.A which sends our way more 9/11 attackers...

    If i were Bush (supporting ethanol) i would argue in this way.

    Would we want to send our money to support terror or would we want to send our children to school?
    If you don't support ethanol, you support terror.

    ....and the Govt, keeps worrying about raising taxes to built a public transport system, etc.
    We should have a way to selectively pay taxes to support initiatives we like, and MPAA initiatives like these should come out of Warner, and not me.

    I don't know. Bush was convincing enough to get re-elected a second time. That must mean either people have become incredibly blind (southerners notice, esp. texans) or his campaign was super-slick.

    His campaign was not that great... so we all know which is true.

    Its not just halliburton, ok? Every corporate has always paid record low taxes, BECAUSE our tax laws are so haphazard. Take Microsoft for example. They donate 20 cents CDs of Windows XP to schools and charities and deduct the FULL retail price of their product $139 even though they ONLY need to burn a CD.
    Or take Apple for instance. They donate refurbished iMacs, etc., to charities and YET deduct full retail price.
    Corporates exist to make profits, and only profits. Any other behavior is strictly prohibited by law and may result in class-action suits, criminal prosecution of managers, etc.

    I agree with you. Laws and Supreme Court rulings over the years have made it a Crime for any corporation to NOT make profit for its shareholders.
    In other words, according to Milton Friedman (God bless his soul), CSR, if meant well, is a crime.
    People consider a corporation as a human, which is wrong. Corporation is a Person, and NOT a Human Being.
    If moving to Dubai brings more returns to its Shareholders, than Halliburton is perfectly right in doing so.

    That said and done, the Govt, now has to change laws and let the IRS wolf loose on Halliburton.
    That would be doing a KBR on Halliburton.

    You are naive...Read the confessions of an Economic Hit Man and the book Corporation.
    Clinton was impeached because he refused to play ball with economic interests at that time.
    NAFTA was not helpful to USA much.
    Similar was the Panama Canal Treaty which Carter negotiated. Once Reagan took over he demolished the treaty.
    All your meandering will not make things right. Neither the Dems nor the Repbs will lift a finger.
    The Dems are looking for funding their next elections and they will not upset the Apple Cart by impeaching Bush.
    Because if they impeach, and there us another attack (which will be certain), the Dems would lose power for next quarter century.
    Heck, they can't even force Bush to recall troops by cutting funding.

    Instead of all this trouble, get a Business DSL connection from Comcast. (The Small Business connection). They will fawn over you to support you, and if they question you about bandwidth usage (which they will never do for a business connection), you can claim my "business" needs it.
    Am sure they NEVER restrict business consumers from consuming bandwidth.

    1) Managers are under the mistaken impression that if i just use spring or Jakarta Commons, the company MUST open up the whole project in which it is used (like a proprietrary trading system) to Open Source.
    Many managers don't realize that just "using" Spring does NOT force you to open up your systems.
    You only need to open up if and when you modify Spring framework with your own code.

    2) Open source hacks is another fear they have: the fear that somehow using open source tools will make their client sue them.

    3) Leak Back: Managers fear developers, in their zeal to promote open source, will incorporate company's code into open source for 'benefitting' others. Much like SCO claimed. Developers are not fools.

    It requires a maturity level beyond that exists today and i don't blame them since these managers were brought up an era where you pay good money for good things.

    I think it has gotta do with helping corporates than fighting terrorism.
    Such mining of data by any single corporation is almost impossible without the HP-Pretext suits.
    Hence, if the corporates pay the politicians to make the Govt. to undertake such a study, they can benefit from it.
    Why else do we need to analyze credit card statements, spending patterns, etc?
    Since politicians, especially republicans have no qualms about spending our tax money on such a thing, they give it a sinister (FUD) name that talks about "terror" in the same way Iraq ties to terror...
    This way people think the Govt, is working for them, while the corporates which sponsored the study are laughing all the way to bank with increased targeted marketing opportunities.
    I think congress should impeach both Prez and VP at same time and file charges under PATRIOT Act.

    No, you don't get me. Am not asking for access to the ID. Am saying we make an agreement, where the student buys the office on the actual buyer's behalf and forwards the mail to the buyer when he recieves it.
    Of course it requires some trust too on both guys behalf. Either the student can run away with the copy and refuse to forward the License, or the buyer may refuse to pay the student $50 (negotiable)...

    Actually even if you sue, you will not get interest, because tax refunds will not carry refunds for the same reason CRR of a bank with the Central bank does not earn interest.
    For the inefficient Govt., its interest-free money.
