  1. Costa Rica on Broadband Pricing Across The World? · · Score: 1

Total monopoly in Costa Rica by Racsa (racsa.co.cr) that is operated by ICE (ice.co.cr). Cable service is done by Teletica (cable TV company, or Amnet)
    prices for residential 128k = $50...
    for an office 64k = $50, 128k = $100
(they just lowered the prices for offices, in 2003 I payed $100 for 32k - only option was to rent an offices since cable does not reach my house) ...
Hard to bee a ggek if you want to live in a country with lotsa sunshine, and 2 oceans :) net is expensive, life is affordable ...

  2. Seeds/Spikes on Spamholes Fighting Spammers · · Score: 1

Well the idea is nice (not new IMHO) , but has a big problem: SPAMmers use seeds in their lists (some call it spikes). They put their own email addresses into each list (let's say every 10.000th address is their own) so they know if 1. the list is stolen by an other scumbag, 2. they get a "ring" when 10.000 mails are sent.

By the way, people put their own addresses in customer lists, so when their provider (or whoever else) steals their DB, they know who to go after.

Where do I know it from? - worked for companies involved in spamming - I admit, but i swear I never sent out 1 single spam mail, and I hate SPAM more than ... ahmm ... spammers :)

  3. If I purchased Linux? on Co-founder Joy to leave Sun · · Score: 1

If I am running a "tinker with it Linux distro", it was a download most likely, I compiled my kernel so it was me decision to use the questionnable code. But what if I am the average joe user who got his Redhat/Mandrake/You name it - installation? In that case I bought a software from a company, and if they sold stolen code, Sun should kick their butts, not mine... err right?
Not that I am worried that much of Sun getting a cent out of anyone but made me think for a second looking at my Debian server, typing on my Redhat workstation :)
