From what I understand, the virus acts like a sort of proxyserver. You are chalanged to enter the Vasco code. Then it takes that code (as there is a timelimit on it or can be used only once) and uses it to transfer money in the background to another account.
Then the bank system will ask to retype your code, because it can't use the other code anymore. Always pretty random numbers.
I work on Linux (so no virus there) and I have misstyped the code more then once, so such an error message is not uncommon.
It is sort of an automated Man-in-the-Midlle attack.
From top to bottom the responses are: * 4.000 EUR is a lot for some people (Get of my lawn) * Link to FOSDEM (Free and Open Source Software Developers European Meeting) * Mac is more secure (Standard Mac Fanboy) * Banks are thieves (Standard non addressing the issue, just namecalling) * Make banking more secure (Blaming the banks, not the people who stole it)
The real question is whether people who play online games are a good representation of the general population.
When I look at the online population, I see a lot of 18 year old bi-sexual nymphomaniac miss-universe winners. I would believe a very much higher percentage then you would expect when looking at the general real world population.
I also open a lot with 'Open All Tabs' as that is how I sorted them. Then look at them and close again. Although the idea is nice, for the way I use it. I will have more work.
Having the tabs vertically is sometjing I would not like. Now I can have a browser and some other program open on my widescreen. Then I would be able to run only one program.
And what I do is 'open all tabs' from my bookmarks, read them and then close them again.
All the times I really wanted an upgrade (about every 3-4 years) the new CPUs needed a new mobo, as the slots of the new ones where different. In the end a new system was just easier then to hod on to the old outdated hardware. At least then I would have a complete system to give away.
Or what about a record company and a computer company? It became an issue when the computer company started selling Music. The name of that company slipped my mind. Pear? Orange?
I think this is private. I think that even if I do something in public, there is no reason that it should be legal to record it and use it to cross reference it.
In the past, you are in a public place and people see what you did and had to recollect it from memmory, likely to forget most.
In the present, you are in a public place and machines record and register what you do. Everybody and his little brother is able to see what you did for all of eternety. Also they are able to crossreference it with everthing else.
Just because it is legal to keep all this data, it does not mean it should be.
For me privacy is not about the place, privacy is about the person.
Unless any specifications in the contract are illegal. At least in Belgium that would mean that that the contract is null and void or at least large parts of it, depending the contract.
I love American Democracy. You can vote so shoot either your left foot or your right foot. Sure you could vote NOT to shoot your foot, but why do that?Winning is more important then vote for what you believe in, right?
It is not that you need to find it by hand. It is that the traffic signs are the rules you need to follow, not your TomTom. There are idiots who drove into canals, into tram and train tunnels and what not, because their TomTom told them to do so.
If you drive in Arnhem, and TomTom tells you to go right and there is a big river, then you are an idiot for driving into it. That is NOT TomToms fault, it is yours. If Arnhem changes one-way directions or if there are roads blocked, it is YOU who needs to pay attentions to whatever traffic rules there are. All navigation systems I have used have a 'recalculation' option.
Do not blame TomTom for going a bridge to far. (Home this does not count as Godwins Law)
And yes I know and understand the limitations of especially the TomTom AND Google Maps. Just go to your URL, click in "Link" and paste the email link into http://houghi.org/tomtom
When I got my drivers license, they asked me to take a right and a left and _I_ had to decide if I should drive straight-on if they said nothing. If a person next to me says that there is no traffic on his side of the car when crossing, it still is _MY_ responsibility as a driver.
When driving with my satnav on, I KNOW it will be wrong at times, so I still look at traffic signs and what not outside. When I look at articles like this or this I get a bit angry. Again something where people try to blame others for their own stupidity.
You are not their target customer. The people who buy amplifiers that go to 11 are.
In our group of friends there are at least 3 people with a high knowledge of purchasing computers, yet one of the non-technical persons bought a way over the top system. When asked the reason was that the salesperson said it was the best. The person thought that the best was what you needed for browsing and email.
Security is unfortunately not something the average user understands. And if he understands it and asks before his purchase, the answer from the sales person will be "Buy AntiVirus XYZ" as they make money of it and not "Install Linux where I do not get any money and won't see you again to restore your PC."
New to computers? That would mean either the older generation, or people living in places where nobody has a computer. If they decide to buy a computer, they will go into a store and buy one with the OS pre-installed. So they will get either a MAC, but more likely a Windows PC.
The majority of people is not interested in computers abd even less in the CSS/OSS discussion. They want to browse the "Internet", email friends and family and video-phone their grandchildren, or any other social contact that exists.
So even if Linux or even Nac is technically better, they will end up buying a Windows machine. Debugging is done by going back to the store. And the advice the neighbor kid gives them is "It is normal that computers get slower over time. Just re-install it."
1 billion lemmings can't be wrong.
In the end what Linux promoters try to do is make a technical solution (Easier to install both the OS and software, security) for a social (Marketing) problem. Also people do not like to be called dumb. "You run Windows? That is dumb, because...". People will then start to justify it by any means. (OK, perhaps not dumb, but certainly wrong.)
How expensive will these be? Will they be more expensive or not then needles? If more expensive, then it would mean almost nothing, except extra cost. If less expensive, then it could mean that people with a much lower training will be able to hand them out in many poor regions in the world.

Everywhere I go in Europe (Including The Netherlands) The Netherlands and Holland are interchangable.
Want proof? Hup, Holland. Hup.
They even market themselves in international faires with Holland, Tulip and wooden shoes, even if the company is from Twente.
I think you are a bit confused by "the nether lands" The Netherlands" is a country, hence the captital T and N.
And yes, I would tell an English speaker to first use proper wording. That is if he is willing to learn and I have done so.

That looks like /. in only 5 postings.

Yeah, stupid standard users who have no idea. Luckily we are the elite, so we are not affected. Right?
That is why I did not get the job. I am not running Mac, Windows or Ubuntu. I run a different version of Linux.
Or what about a record company and a computer company? It became an issue when the computer company started selling Music. The name of that company slipped my mind. Pear? Orange?

Common sence?
If having any privacy is outlawed, only criminals will have privacy.

Dual boot will most likely end up in the end with always running Windows.

Something like openSUSEs webpin?
If you are on a sailboat, I suggest you sail a few meters in front of an oil tanker. That way they don't see who is stealing their network.
