    You must be right! The GMRS radios from Motorola claim to do 5 miles but they actually do 2 miles. 20Mbps down to 8Mbps and 5 miles down to 2 miles is the same ratio. You and I should apply @ Motorola Labs!

    daddy: Hey kid, come down, the sky is clear! (...Well, this might explains why the Internet went down for a moment not too long ago...) You probably heard a broadcast storm, a DoS or... dammit, perhaps a worm is seeking the wireless OFDM network trying to infiltrate computers in the area!!!

    So, I ain't smarter then you I guess? We're equal on this point. All I know about bittorent is it's a P2P. Because someone knows about this, does it mean he is actually using it? If I need to figure out how to "share" information, which application to download, I will.

    TRUE, I was offtopic -- I read the whole thread between SCO/Linux and today the "SCO's claims Against Daimler-Chrysler Thrown Out". When I got in this thread, I 1st got the impression they were using a "Linux kernel" -- and SCO is going after anything with Linux.

    My sincere apologize to everyone.

    Then I will put it in BitTorrent (www.suprnova.com) and everyone can download it!

    I don't mind setting up an auction on ebay if you want to make sure that I will not go spend 50$ on something else.

    We would be allowed to buy their CD and then put their work available for free download, BitTorrent?

    Even better, we can resale a copy of their CD on eBay for 1$ instead of 49$ ;-) What do we do with the profit? Sue SCO?

    I wish I could engage myself in this war but dammit, I am a Canadian and my government decided again not to participate.

    Did you see on the FBI's web site? The CEO of SCO is wanted for conspiracy... I wonder, conspiracy with who? Must be Bill Gates.

    Seriously, I really wanted to be on the 1st line for the attack, being on the CLI (enable) prompt of their ISP's router and lauching a DoS attack, no ... a ping of death ... no, how about shutting down their network interface, then their power facilities, then we can attack their internal wireless communication including 802.11(g) and cell. phones , etc.

    I better stop it before the RCMP rings my bell. HHOOOO, by the way, the RCMP is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police -- they probably compare with the smallest police office in the states, LOL...

    Check out the documentation on SCO's web site: docsrv.sco.com

    Under Solaris, "init 5" brings the system in poweroff mode...

    Under SCO... in firmware mode (on x86 machines, it's the same as runlevel 0)

    Once we take control of SCO's "init", we can implement "telinit 0". Don't worry -- be happy!

    As of today, how much is SCO worth on paper? Even if we all know SCO on the mid-term (I'm thinking more like ... very short-term) is worth NOTHING.

    How much money / Linux users do we need to make a hostile takeover of SCO? Once we have the control, we can shutdown SCO by using their own code... "init 5" !!!

    This is a *not* a sysadmin problem.

    This a problem with the web-developers. They just need to force the virus not to be cached by the client. If the virus can't be cached, it won't spread around.

    Intel grades their chips. They mark each chip with the speed that they feel comfortable selling with Intel's name and warranty.

    True, if we don't overclock our Intel chip -- the CPU will last 10 years. If we overclock our CPU the right way, *still* stable, our CPU might last only 3 years -- if we're lucky perhaps 9 years!

    Since the past 15 years, I've always been upgrading my computer every ~3 years.

    If my CPU blow in 2 years, by then a 3.4GHz CPU might cost me perhaps 200$ but I will probably buy the latest and greatest.

    If it blow in 3 years -- Honey, the computer is dead -- we need a brand new computer -- Honey, by the way, we don't have the money anymore to visit your mother this coming weekend!

    You need at least a T1. No way to do it with a POTS. The PBX will block it... unless you use a "Linux PBX" and use the following compilation flag:

    ./configure --disable-private-id

    even get caller numbers that are supposed to be private.

    This is a very well known "security breach" that not only applies to VoIP. For example, you can retrieve a CID from a PBX or an access server (PPP server) that has a T1 link.

    We should not support electric cars, here's why.

    If we would all switch to electric cars tomorrow, this is what would happen:

    - IRAQ goes bankrupt.

    - Bill Gates' charity foundation will give money to IRAQ but in return, the (new) government of IRAQ most put in place a law againts open-source

    There's petrol left for about 40 years.

    In 40 years, IRAQ will go bankrupt. Opened-source software will be #1 and Microsoft... Micro what? Ho, you mean the company that invented the Internet? Son... that's not what your "computer history teacher" told you, did he?

    This might be a good reason for "bad" IPSs to block gmail accounts.

    I've never heard of any IPS giving 1GB away per email accounts and you can actually leave the emails on their server. AND, where are the other features proposed by gmail, like the super-quick search option?

    Many of us are consider a gmail account with 1GB! Once you start using your gmail accounts and that your friends are aware of your new email address, next time the network of your IPS goes down -- you can leave right away without having to worry that you might loose some emails, etc.

    How many people stays with their ISP because they don't want to loose their email address, even if their IPS's network sucks?

    And, when will my email address be portable from an IPS to another one? I doubt this will ever come, and until then... This is why I *never* used the free email address from my IPS, thanx to PObox.com -- they forward my email anywhere I wish and as of a few days ago, even to my gmail account!!!
