  1. Re:Bias on Engineering An End to Aging · · Score: 2, Interesting

Not just bias. All other forms of emotional baggage would build up too. It would be interesting to see what happens to depressed people when they have to deal with 500 years of insecurities, negative experiences and anger. So many things would build up that every subject would trigger some kind of emotional pain. If the medical field moves this far forward, psychology and other mental health related fields (which are already really far behind) will have to catch up before we have a planet full of immortal psychotics.

I didn't know death was such a big problem... but that's the first time I've seen it in terms I can understand. According to that last article, people die at a rate of three Libraries of congress per year!! I tried to convert it to terabits/year for everyone else but Google didn't recognize the units.

No more /. for me, I'm afraid the next time I refresh I'll see "US approves tar and feathering of wardrivers."

This works from an economic standpoint... but that has never been what justice is about. There's the whole "does the punishment fit the crime" issue. Economicly, it also makes sense to execute the unemployed. Also, my parents could really clean up by executing me... they'd save thousands a year on doritos and mt. dew costs... not to mention all that extra basement space... thank god they don't read /. expand this to the people who buy herbal viagra, the people who open the "official_paper_virus_not_found.scr" attachments, and anyone who clicks on a flashing banner because they're "visitor number 22194!"

Even if they aren't ultra-sensitive, is it really that much more convient to wave a card in front of a sensor than to swipe a magnetic strip? I don't think accidently transfering things is as much of a problem as people stealing your info intentionally. 1. Use one of these readers to get someone's info. 2. Broadcast it using your homemade RFID card. 3. ... 4. Profit!! (or ad least... 4. Movie Tickets!!) Scammers will have a field day with these.

That's fine, if he's clever enough to get paid for gaming, I'm sure he's working on a way to get paid for looking at pr0n.
