You were wrong. It wasn't until the advent of Unions that the working class got a weekend. Actually, up until recently with the rise of neoconservatism, America has tended to be fairly good about keeping religion out of work and government, and the "creation" of the weekend was just an exercise in pragmatism, as workers with a couple days off tend to do better durring the other five. However, I expect it's intentional that it coincides with both the Jewish and Christian days of rest.

To the point: What would make it a good idea to consolidate our power generation? There's something to be said for distribution. And then we may be able to have plants that don't use as much fuel so that any disasters would be extremely local. The problem with a Fort Knox style national plant is that somebody who wants to blow it up will 1) know exactly where it is 2) only need to succeed once.

Only problem I see with that is open source solutions tend to be less user friendly. For example, compare the Gimp and Photoshop. Photoshop is by far an easier one to learn, though I don't think there's much doubt that the Gimp is at least as powerful an image manipulator. So it's not just when open source solutions match their closed source counterparts in uses, but user-friendliness too.

You missed the point. It is a fake news show that gives nothing better than satire (which is often good). I never said they have no standards, and they seem to have higher standards than the others. The point is that the "guy with the most reliable news show" should not be a comedian whose show was originally intended to make fun of news shows. He raises valid points because he doesn't even have to pretend to be giving actual news, but does a better job than the major networks. I don't see why it makes his points any less valid for him to have a show that was never meant to be an actual news source.

On the other hand, Crossfire and other news shows, which serve the purpose of evaluating government (among others) aren't even doing as well as a comedy show, and that's what Stewart was talking about.

Austria-Hungary had Germany backing them up. After the assassination of Franz-Ferdinand, war was mutually declared all around. It wasn't so simplistic as one man causing it all. Also, as far as WWII went, if we (read: primarily France and Britain) hadn't sanctioned Germany into a depression the Nazi party might never have risen. Again, too simplistic a view to say it was one man. Vietnam and Iraq were each caused by one man? And terrorism is caused by one man? I call bullshit.
