    For those not from Kansas City. Leawood is basically a very rich strip of land between the Missouri/Kansas border and the 'Kansas City Country Club'.

    Mansions, old big money, absolutely no business. Sticks so far up their butts, they have to get splinters in their esophagus.

    For the bay area the analogous city(s) would be 'Pacifica', maybe 'Half Moon Bay'. Run the numbers on those two.

    KC has been calling itself the 'Silicon Prairie' for decades. It's still deluded bullshit.

    Also don't look at the local government, terrible, 1% gross income tax. It's like they are trying to drive away business. Slowly going the way of eastern cities, will end up like Baltimore unless something changes.

  2. There are no low income residents in SF. The ones complaining are trust fund kids (of all ages) whose trust fund no longer pays SF rent.

    GP has it right, if they buses were contracted from SF's city buses the government would love it.

    Profit motive is less cost than all the powerful peoples idiot nieces/nephews that come with state control.

    Don't look at theory, look at history. State run programs suck. Spreading the pork to every single congressional district is not the way to build rockets.

    People make livings in boiler rooms. Not good livings, but they typically made a bunch of bad decisions that put them in the boiler room chair in the first place. It can be their best alternative.

    I once worked on software used to script calls and collect data. It was a shit job, but I wasn't above it.

    You share bandwidth with your neighbor.

    Are you OK with him setting his torrent traffic priority to 1? Even if it interferes with your VOIP and gaming?

    If you want guaranteed bandwidth to a major connection point it will cost you a little more than a consumer grade connection.

    No reasonable definition of net neutrality makes QoS illegal.

    The fact on the ground is some packets do get priority.

    Do you even think it's reasonable to prioritize your torrent packets the same as your neighbors VOIP traffic?

    Put the government in charge of QoS priority decisions at the ISP level. What could go wrong?

    I'm just glad we can run torrents on any port. So they can play whack a mole.

    Strong encryption everywhere fixes this.
