I was thinking about how long it took to "train" voice recognition software - thousands of different people - no way..... With a list like echelon though....hmmm...
Terrorists, Spys & subversives must learn to imitate Donald Duck........
"Specify the mount point of the root directory" it sez... Hmm...."/root" types I.... "The mount point for the root directory is not specified" it sez...
Repeated 3 times until I figured out that all it wanted was "/"...
2 or 3 lines of text would have simplified this no end, & why does it even ask? You can't call it "tulips" instead of "/".....
All the fuss over Armed & Winlinux... Peanut already does it better. Phat is O.K. but IIRC does not give you the option of installing to an ex2 partition. Peanut's got KDE, Nav 4.61 Kernel 2.2.12, X 3.3.5, latest libs & much more - Faster too! (he sez:)). You can install it in a DOS loop (unsure of the details but NOT UMSDOS)or do a true ex2 partition (FIPS included). All in a 48MB.bz + 5MB.zip. Fast download - mirrored @ linuxberg + site not/.ed. Good support on the message board. This was the first distro I tried & it is the one I'm using now (can't get COL 2.2 to work with my Vchip:o) the homepage http://metalab.unc.edu/peanut/ is worth checking out just for the humor....
Actually, you'll probably find that MZB engages your "predictable concerns". Read one of her books....you'll probably read the rest of them like I did...
Why could they not use XF86 3.3.5? I've got 2.2 & it don't support my chip.... neither does 2.3... 3-4 minutes into the CD install I get the BEIGE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!! (my fault I know - RTFD..). Caldera's idea of a fix for this is to refer their unhappy customer to the SUSE(!!)website, where a fix has been posted. No mention at all of xf86.org....
If Mandrake decides to include 3.3.5 - bugger FTP - i'll BUY the dammed thing.....
Dumped me 1st try 5.36pm (GMT + 12) been back & forth - in & out + a couple of AOL!'S since - sometimes fast - sometimes freezes. ftp'd Peanut last night - up till 2.30 - does anyone else use it? - the guy has a sense of humor. still haven't run Xconfig - not good to be root when you're typing '1' as '!' & cant find '+'

What suprises me is that Microsoft have not been more active....
Watch the machine shift into top gear when Corel gets released
They must be %#!&* themselves.....
Considering the fact that it's the only major app that can bring Linux to it's knees?
5.0 beta is due mid December...we'll see....
Now that's interesting...
could this mean the end of Mozilla...
wish they'd said more...
