It is like a room temperature superconductor for engineering, a quantum computer for computing, or a Theory of Everything for physics. There have been many false proofs, but considering that Fermat's Last Theorem was proved, this might be too.

I see it all the time. At my school, they just had a party where they tacked on like 3-5 more sysadmins. And what seems to be true is that for every sysadmin you add, more things break. Our kernal is possibly the most broken, unreliable, slow, bloated piece of crap I've ever seen. Mostly because we have so many sysadmins that whenever we fix it, it just breaks again.
I don't think the sysadmin job is going to last much longer as a thing thats in demand. Because there are far too many kids now who know Linux backwards and forwards. And when they grow up to be real sysadmins, half of them will be out of a job.
PCI-X is twice as fast as PCI and is a replacement for PCI. PCI-E is a replacement for AGP and is twice as fast as AGP 8x. PCI-Express boards will have multiple PCI-X slots for sound cards, network cards, etc, and one PCI-E slot for the graphics card.

Mac OS X is designed to ONLY run on apple processors. It is designed to use RISC.
Windows XP is designed to work with x86 instructions, which are quite easy to emulate. RISC instructions are almost impossible to emulate on x86 CISC processors.
So you can't really use that to say that the Mac is faster.
Most games don't require much in terms of graphics, even though companies and players make a big deal out of it. Its processor speed that matters.
In a recent test, replacing a 9800 XT with an X800XT running Far Cry on 1600by1200 gave a 5% performance boost.
And in UT2004, a GeForce 3, even a GeForce 4 MX can run it just fine.

This isn't really that impressive. When they come out with a processor that can beat the Athlon 64 (which by the way, is cheaper), I'll be impressed. But currently, an Athlon 64 3400+ defeats a G5 by over 70% (this is not counting the new chips, this is using the best of the old G5s) in QUICKTIME ENCODING, which is sort of sad. And Apple has the advantage of RISC also--they don't have to deal with the ridiculously inefficient x86 instruction set. Considering how much of an advantage they have over AMD and Intel in creating their processors (they don't have to be forced into Microsoft's standards), I expected something better.
Not exactly. First of all, there are the political issues--NO ONE wants to launch a nuclear reactor into space in case the rocket blows up, as an explosion could set off a nuclear explosion too. Second of all, there are really two types of nuclear reactor. There is the kind we use on earth, which requires massive cooling (yes, not even the cold of mars would be enough). The second type is a radioactive reactor, which simply uses the radiation from a chunk of highly radioactive material for power. Many of the space probes, such as Voyager, used this type of reactor.
The Centrino is any system that uses the following:
1. An Intel Pentium-M processor, which is NOT a Celeron and has NO releation to the Pentium 4. The new "Dothan" Pentium-M, overclocked to 2.4Ghz in a recent review competed with the Athlon 64 3400+ in many tests and defeated the 3.4Ghz P4EE in SuperPi. This chip may be where Intel goes next, as it uses only 21 watts yet is faster than the Prescott and can clock high with hardly any cooling.
2. An Intel 850 motherboard (I'm pretty sure about this, can't guarantee it though).
3. And that board has to have integrated wireless.
If the notebook has the above three, its a Centrino. Just a fancy name for a Pentium-M high-battery-life machine with wireless.
