  1. Re:Why do you buy Sony products? on Sony Introduces 'PSN Pass' To Fight Used Game Sales · · Score: 1

I love this flawed argument. It would be one thing if we were talking about Sony washing machines or appliances and I could just boycott them and buy a competitors, but we are talking about the PS3 here. While there is some degree of competition in that market it is not to the degree of most markets. You will not get the same experience on a XBox (and by your logic we should boycott them as well...) and definitely not on a Wii. Your only choice is to keep playing, or live without. Some people can do the latter, whereas I choose to just not buy things and wait till games are GOTY or I swap games.

I love the fact that no one seems to remember that the whole "test ban treaty" against nukes in space is what made the funding dry up, in turn killing this project. I'm sure if we could do it today there would be money put to it. It doesn't matter if you have all the money in the world, you can't do the impossible.

  7. Re:Its about time... on Comcast Sued Over P2P Blocking · · Score: 1

I used to work for a campus IT dept. so here is some insight: You are not paying for this service provided to you (in a round about way you are...) so you are agreeing to their TOS when you log into their network. The network is there to service the Faculty FIRST and then let the students use it. They will block all unneccessary protocols to acheive a safe and smooth network. If a faculty needed a protocol open to do some school related work it would be, so your claims are a secondary function and you are sadly SOL. last of all last time I checked no univeristy allowed personal servers of ANY kind (Comcast doesn't either) on their network. The only usage they really are allowing you is access to information and not the ability to send or download things. Crammed budget = constraints.

The numbers may not add up, but you are forgetting that the sunrise doesn't just happen at one spot on the Earth. While they are orbiting the earth the sunrise will move 16 minutes infront of its previous position. This will give a total time of 96 minutes between sunrises, AKA 15 a day. (Actually anything close or a little less that and you'll still only see 15 a day with a little extrat "day time")

Last time I checked they were still losing money on the 360 (as great of a machine as it is and the same could be said about the zune). That and they still have to overcome the losses of the original xbox. PS You also made me think of the whole playforsure fiasco.

  11. Spreading thin on Microsoft / Adobe Competition Heating Up · · Score: 2, Interesting

I don't know about this move for M$. They are spreading themselves thin trying to conquer every electronic related market (zune, 360, computers, etc..). Flash is a well established format that many people are accustomed to using and familiar with. Unless M$ has an awesome solution at hand already I believe that they should consolidate their efforts and try to make some headway one their other fronts instead of moving focus from failing efforts.

  12. Rocket Science? on SpaceX's Falcon Launches... Sort Of · · Score: 1

Well I guess it really is rocket science. They need to get their act together and possibly outsource some help from NASA or Lockeheed or somebody. If they keep this up they are going to run out of money/steam and be out of the race. I'd hate to see that as this is a hopeful to add more competition to the comercial space race that I hope will allow myself to one day leave this planet.

  13. Copy or not on Apple, Cisco Settle iPhone Trademark Lawsuit · · Score: 3, Insightful

Wether you like it or not Apple didn't copy anybody (except from the perspective that everything is inherently copied). The design lifecycle of a product such as this is far to long for them to have copied the prada or any other new phone's design. If anything this should say something about the new current trend in cellular phones. As far as the lawsuit goes Apple is very good at weasling their way around definitions to put themselves in the right. I don't care how you look at it, but any phone that a customer has an active part in making the purchasing desicion (aka not a cheapo I need a phone model) is competing with one another. If I had a car called the Iphone and it really doesn't compete with the real cell phone, the name is misleading and shouldn't have been awarded to Apple. But I believe Cisco did the right thing, and heck they got some press and some money out of it to boot.
