If anyone bothered to read the full documentation (of which obviously the chinese government hasn't, and no one in the/. community replying to this...)
It is my understanding of the google hacks, that you can actually bypass any such limitations they have supposedly implanted on the chinese google search...and provide proper search queries if you know the google hacks to get them.
The chinese government needs to think that google is on their side, so google implements a visual search restriction which is purely cosmetic, as any true google hacker would know...
I for one think the point is moot, anyone that really wants to get information can,...they just need to know where and how to look....including chinese censored citizens.
I am afraid I guess I don't know enough about how bad their situation is. Could someone teach them to put an american dns server ip address on their network card for name resolution....4.4.4.4 or something like that ( forget which is the verisign one....) that way when they could actually bypass the block they have....as for google, they could just download vnc software, and join a vnc club to use someone's computer in canada to allow traffic , or maybe even psTools would be a way to go.....but that is without someone's consent....
It all depends, but I would say that first you need to think of what it is you
really want...start small....I want an intro page that has a bit of flash,
maybe some art work etc...then build from there, then I want a link of that
intro page that goes to an about us page...etc....
You need to figure out a workflow...so that once you have finished
a small step in the overall development, you can move on to the next one.
What techs to use, any really, you know nothing now, but 1 year of development
on your own asking questions searching on google etc...will make you a small time pro real fast.
www.experts-exchange is one of the best places for novices to begin, if they get
stuck...then there is google if you are really good with their search capability (hint.... " html form posting site:www.experts-exchange.com" in google will yield alot of results...)
Last but not least, actually should have been first, is do not panic!
Do you need it now...check sourceforge to see if they already have it....are you
under pressure, need this tomorrow...then check out www.rentacoder.com
if you want to learn on your own through making lots of mistakes and enjoying
yourself when you realize you just figured something out....then go to www.w3school.com...for html, css, javascript etc...
I would suggest also cheating alot by using the view source code of your favorite websites you want to duplicate, helps learn real quick how others have done it!
Cheers....happy developing!
If I bring my car into a shop to get new tires put on and the tires peel off 20 miles down the road, is it not the shop's responsibility to replace them as they are the pros on this matter offering me a service for more expensive then if I did it myself (buying the tire, placing it on myself with a jack etc...)...they would just take it up afterwards with their distributor that the tire was defective (or sold under fraudulent terms of being road worthy), this is no different, eBay can invest a little more money into defensive means instead of just black listing everyone involved....
Ebay makes money with their escrow, they make money on their paypal transaction% and they make money on the ads, as well, as they make money on the interest when they keep your money sitting in their banks for months on end until "they have checked the history of the credit card fraud"...
After being involved in a scam, you are always flagged, and will be investigated (their terms for keeping your money longer in their banks for getting highger interest)...why does the victim pay in this instance, probably because of people like you that think they should have no accountability.
You might eat your words one day, when you find yourself in a society where the blame always falls unto the victim (well you were asking to get raped if you were wearing such revealing outfits......) I just hope you don't have a daughter who reads/. and finds an opinionated writer like yourself to let her know she was at fault!!!
No they wouldnt, it would stop you from spending
enormous amounts of wasted time trying to patch things
and seeing all sorts of ads everywhere for their other products.....
seems like you don't understand marketing!
You obviously aren't a programmer dude
I think a programmer that has to cut corners on his testing
to look good for the boss, or passes his work of to
one of his interns whom he thinks is quite good
(but not as thorough)...might still get the buffer overflows!
And not caring about security like you do,
ask someone that wants to use their credit cards online
offer them a browser that was made in c takes less resources
(10mb.) but might have a chance of being less secure
to their counter parts which takes a wapping 50mb. but
is infinetely more secure while taking up 50mb of their
512 mb. memory (most people have this as the norm nowadays)....
or 1000$ unknown transaction, which do you think they would select???
Like aw my gawd, like man , like are you from the valley????
I have to say not a geek, more like a valley girl!!!
Complain Complain Complain....you need a bitch slap dude!
Seriously, instead of complaining about the problem why not
suggest atleast a better way of doing things, and show your
"geekyness" like the guy above you who commented that/.
should have a setting to avoid dupes...and a flagging system...
Maybe it goes hand in hand with the fact that the IT people (industry) , including myself seem to be the worst paid for the amount of work we do.
Who would go and say something about the way that the geek should dress... he works on his hands and knees setting up everybodies pc when they don't even know what a USB port is, develops all the front end and backend for your company's intranet and web servers, freezes inside the server room when the backups for the databases need to be re-configured and / or mirrored, and gets passed over for promotion every time the "new" bosses kid's friend wants a job.
Start paying a little more money for the one who keeps your company alive.....whom in todays world your company can't live without... start spending a little money to make HIS life a little easier instead of telling him to find ways of cutting back on software expenses (u el cheapo u).... and then you will see a little more dignity out of this man.
Trust me, I would rather wear my armani suits to the local water cooler and impress all the babes if i could only find the room in my closet for all the excessive suits I have lying around....(sheesh!)
you may want to check into citrix servers to be able to run one licensed version of your 2003 office, without having to run it on every pc, then each user has their own account on that server that when they web log into they keep, sort of same as a windows network environment, but more advanced as it has integrated vpn technology for outside the office(home users)...check into it!
I used to skype all my friends from one side of the continent to the other, and now with this, i don't think ebay would ever give anything for free based on their "charge you for everything they can" attitude. So long free voip , hello empty paypal account....I am looking forward to seeing what googletalk offers...
"sucks to be flatulent in an empty elevator"
I seem to remember getting my first edition of windows 98 packaged, installing it, and seeing that the had a built in feature to place calls through your modem line, which somehow they had left enabled by default to be able to make long distance calls.....this was rectified in the second edition of windows 98....
I used to be able to call my friends in new york from canada for free....what ever happened to those good old days?
I have been using skype religiously although
without the skype in / out features...as they cost money, but i much prefer thinking that i
dont need proxy servers to use my connection seeing as skype on a basic level is a p2p software....
I tend to think if microsoft where to really want to kick butt....they would have to go along ways like google to offer anything worthwhile....
atleast google is making an effort to roll everything into one virtual distribution....google dark fiber for free internet...then free telephones...then
free library eBooks....then....hey wait....who has the monopoly again???
The magic is in the hands , not what the eye can't see, as long as it doesnt crash , people will use it, they always have, even when it does crash.... ; )
Yeah, and the reverse is true(as per those power memory courses)...which ties also into old age, the more you are "comfortable doing nothing"...and delve less & less into the adventurous, the less & less you need to remember. By forcing a traumatic response in the brain to help remember something, you actually promote memory.... so next time you need to remember that phone #, just imagine something "extreme"...and view the phone # in your head....you would be surprised at how easy it becomes to remember stuff....(96% average in college with a breeze)... Also i guess if you stay busy and keep your "self" always moving and more importantly build the neccessaty to remember things (even at 75) you will help promote against memory loss.

I don't think parcel carriers would be using this technology at all, they need to save money, and the fuel consumption alone would be a detering factor...maybe by 2090 when we have nuclear powered vehicles or something... 2-
also, can you imagine the look of horror when the pilot realizes that with that much g force, the parcels all picked up enough velocity from not being tied down, that they take off the whole back end of the plane....
"Hey Vern, did you forget to tie down dem' dere'packagers ergain?"...
2 things....
1- when you are adding up the costs of the actual price for any product, you also factor in the cost of the downtime for running the product...thereby...running the most vulnerable os out there, you have to add the cost of msblaster worms downtime for all employess at the infected company site.
this is not a "business model" , it is common sense, of which this guy has none...
2 - when he talks about the cost for support for red hat enterprise per registration, he forgets that the registered version gets you the support that can be split as they do not check the machine
it is on. this is a one time cost.
Microsoft not only has no such ability to install legal version multiple times per license, unless paid for each license...but you also have to pay per incident if it is beyond the install of the software..compatibility issues and such. Not acceptable!
I hate seeing someone snaking their way out dealing with the facts!
It is very simple, anyone knowing the microsoft business model knows they are just bringing what is left of the "old" developers over to the new frame work...this way it ensures that c & c++ will be legacy by way of comparison....get a programmer developing his c, then use some prefab code from the libraries, and see how much easier it is to use the vb.net or c# or j#....hey guess what...he is learning again, teaching an old dog new tricks. He becomes valuable again to the "now" community, and hangs up his c g-string for a c# g-string.....it is a very smart move by microsoft....do you think they will actually allow "real" c & c++ programming....no...they will allow the syntax of it, they will still implement the clr.....so the clr, will in fact proof read the code, and maybe throw some errors if it can to avoid bad style or "old" habits.
All I can say is being a developer of the "new" world...I can see this as the beginning of the end for the old hats...after this, you will be very hard pressed to find any developers in c & c++...why should we, when evryone is happy working with the faster c#....
I dont like microsoft that much, I have done a fair bit of linux programming & kernel stuff.... c & c++ will still be needed, but with the new.net framework being ported over to unix/linux...you think it won't get engulfed there too, you may be surprised...we are talking about the efficientcy factor!

it also depends what your definition of adware/spyware is!!!
I have gone to skype.com after a friend of mine invited me to join for an account...this seems to be the best yet.
I can do many things without affecting the sound card majorly...although gaming has proven a bit difficult at times as there is no individual volume control....it has tapped into the master volume....but over all great!!!
