so under current FAR rules, a should be able to handle 9.8 (the speed of gravity) times 2.5 m/s squared which is about 24.5 m/s squared.

I used to work at a small computer store doing small hardware repairs and I've ran into the same problems, this is what I found out about the issue after doing a bit of research: When SATA was still new, so motherboard manufacteurer patched on SATA controllers, which were not native, so they required seperate drivers to work. Of course, the irony of it is that the driver is usually stored on the hard drive, so in order for consumers to get SATA to work, you run a messy patch to enable OS installers to recognize the hard drive. Newer motherboards have native SATA support in the chipset, which means that you don't need an external driver.

They use magentic storage (data will fade out after long periods of time). I'd trust NAND memory in a laptop more than a hard drive anyday. I don't trust technology. I would buy a new hard drive every 5-6 years to replace an old one that could be working perfectly fine. (Usually means I get a lot more storage too, but that's coincidence)

Imagine somebody in the USA calling for help to bring down the white house. Would you be pleased if afterwards China sent over their army to "help" the "innocent US citizens" by dropping a few bombs in Washington?

Why are people always associating help with war and destruction? As I mentioned before, war has nothing to do with help. War is complete contrast to help. I should have mentioned this earlier, but I refer to help as the kind of work the U.N. does in 3rd world countries, setting up refugee camps, providing food and supplies.

The fact is, some of the calls for "help" are no more than soliciting assistance to commit treason. And given Americans' (in particular) understanding of the East (people, culture, values, etc),

You're right, some calls for help are for the purpose of soliciting assistance commit treason, and good example would be America's "either you're with us or you aren't" on their war for oil, I mean against terrorism. As someone was born in the east, I would have to say that very few Americans know anything about east (how many people do you know that can speak at least of 2 eastern languages fluently). They just think they do from all the media.

I'd repeat this: most outsiders have no freaking clue when help is needed or NOT needed.

Outsiders know exactly when or when not they need help, they ask for it when they need it (the call is usually unheard or ignored).

Sorry hypocrites, you can't have it both ways. China is a sovereign state, so while you may disagree, YOU have no right sticking your nose in their business, or spreading so-called "American values".

It's always struck me as funny how some people imply that American imperialism is a contrast to Communism. Although I'm not a big fan of either capitalism or communism, I do believe that both systems has it's own flaws. We might not have a right to stick our nose into their business, but if they wanted help and needed help, I'd be willing to bend any rule or law there is to do what I can for them.

And you can thank the left for that particular argument, because I stole it straight from an anti-war in Iraq website.

What does war have to do with anything? You don't need to fight to help people. This is probably just me, but I hate it when people decide to classify beliefs as left/right thinking. Call me crazy, but it appears that all it does is just divide our society even more so we can discriminate for another reason.

Releasing vulnerabilities is something that, IMO, should only be done if (a) there is some specific need for everyone to know about it right now, or (b) requests for fixes have fallen on deaf ears or otherwise failed for an extended period of time.

Does that mean that if most of the parents in the world (say 80%) never used curse words, that their children will never swear? As long the remaining 20% parents are swearing, all the kids will eventually learn. I can think of 2 ways of solving such problem, either you fix the root of the problem (not the messenger) or you educate others on problem and how they can avoid it themselves.

That was LESS THAN A WEEK AGO

It's called responsibility, it comes with life, tasks that are seemingly impossible with very tight deadlines will pop up, and you will have to do them. Stop complaining and get back to work.

I believe what he's done is rather smart; microsoft had a week to fix the hole (which is what they should be doing) + they could always bid on the auction themselves to keep the seller's mouth shut if they need the more time and hire more employees.

"Unlike other applications, Skype polls the hard disk several times per minute. This can be verified either by observing the HDD led or by using a file access monitor such as Filemon. Although those accesses are small, extremely fast and safe in the short term, they can be extremely harmful in the long term. In particular the continuous access pattern does not allow the disk to enter sleep or idle modes while Skype is active, even when offline. This can severely reduce the lifespan of the HDD when Skype is running for a long time. Stronger HDD caching does not seem to improve the situation."
