  1. Maybe it's different out there..... on What Interests High-School Students? · · Score: 1

but in Canada, where I am in grade 10, being profficient with computers is not at all frowned upon. I personally am not extremely profficionet, but I have friends who run Linux, code, etc. Beyond this being smart is certainly not frowned upon, but rather, looked up to. I havemade many friends (ye they are legit friends I may add) by helping them out in class. The big thing that A LOT of people would really want is a game programming class, I think. I have many friends, techie and non-techie, who really, really want to have these skills. Also, while many people do drink, do drugs, etc. it is not a big incentive and a striahtforward we are going to teach you to do something useful approach would be better, in my opinion. Of course all this is irrelevant because I have no concept of what it is like at other schools. So my suggestion would be go to a school and find out what they wan, it is all about the demographics of the area, but if you do it right this program will probably have big success.

  2. The thing about file sharing..... on The File Sharing Report · · Score: 1

is that you can only really get poor quality files and the more popular songs, in most cases, which is why i think of it like taping things off the radio etc: it's handy but only to preview songs or listen to songs you havent bought yet, or don't want the cd of. I usually buy a cd if I like the songs i download but I keep the opnes i download on my comp to have a collection of favorites to listen to on my computer.

There is an example of a movie that did pull off this balancing quite well and on purpose which was the original Batman movie, the one with adam west, which was making fun of the cartoon. I especially enjoy the shark repellent scene.

  4. This isn't that new on New Generation of MP3 Players, New Features · · Score: 0

features like his have been available for quite some time in north america, I live in canada and have owned since last year a yepp which i believe is made by sony and has all these audio feaures and frankly they are not all that interesting, just little things like slightly more bass or a slightly clearer sound and while it is nice to have i hardly think it is slshdot worthy
