I can relate. The further you go (i.e. when you switch to graduate school after your undergrad) the more your grades depend on how much you work rather than how intelligent you are. I think its even designed to be that way... most likely because university teachers don't want to end up surrounded by lazy bums. Academic success is a skill, not an inate talent. Maybe at first its easy but eventually you will reach a point where you have to work to keep going.
A few things I've come to realize after many bottles of antidepressants and psycotherapy to understand why I felt like a faillure with a Masters Degree and a very well paying job.
- Life has no meaning
- You only get one life
- All humans are basically selfish... this is essential to their survival
- Success is meaningless
Basically it comes down to this : life for yourself, live as a selfish asshole, putting your needs and what you like AHEAD of what others expect of you.
As long as you do things because it is what people expected of you or to please others, you'll feel like something is missing.
Who cares if you're "uniquely bright" or whatever else you like to call it in order to repress your inferiority complex. In the end, will it make you "special" when you die. Do you think there is a special heaven for people with 130+ IQ? Nope. You'll still die like everybody else. Stop wasting your time trying to impress the rest of the planet by finding what will make you unique and special. Just life for yourself. Do what you like, do what makes you happy. Maybe this way once you're on your deathbed you won't have too much to regret.
Start software companies or get into politics ... and manage not to get caught.
If you get an arm bitten off by a shark, at least you can email the coastguards to get rescued.
