It sorta depends on which UBB you're speaking of.

The login problem with UBB.threads is due to Safari setting the cookie path to the script... so you log in to /threads/start_page.php, and the cookie is only good for the page. Oops. A bug has been filed.

The login problem with UBB.classic is still being investigated, and is currently believed to be a problem with handling multiple Cookie headers.

To the best of my knowledge, Safari works fine with UBB.x using the old UI. There are some DOM bugs preventing use of the new UI. A bug has been filed.

The next week, while I was STILL waiting to find out why the hell the line wasn't installed... COVAD CANCELED THEIR CONTRACT WITH MY ISP, AND EVERY OTHER SMALL LOCAL ISP! Everyone who went through my ISP for Covad DSL would have their service terminated in six weeks.

  6. As they're Qubes... on Has Anyone Played With Gateway Micro Server? · · Score: 1

If the Qubes are designed anything like the RaQs, then look elsewhere.

The RaQ is an underpowered piece of CRAP. Put a few medium to high load CGI scripts on the server, hit it with a few dozen requests and watch it fall over in no time at all. The CPU and disk system just can't take the load. (This is from first and second hand experience doing tech support for those scripts...)

The RaQ3 is better (it uses an AMD K6, among other improvements), but not by much.

The Qube probably uses the same platform as the older RaQ series, and would certainly be something to avoid unless you don't actually intend to use the box for anything.

Not much can be done. More moderation might work in the short run, but it isn't a viable long term solution. Something must be done to stop the abuse of the AC.

I'd like to see another step of moderation: the ability to block out posts which have not been 'approved' by a moderator. There are other solutions to this problem which don't involve major changes. Simple flood protection can be implemented. If the username (or IP address, which might be more accurate) has posted within the past, say, 30 seconds, force the user to wait before posting. And make no exceptions to that rule. I would like to see something else, though: The ability to block out ACs entirely via our profile, if the score for the post isn't 1 or higher. Doing so will block out 99% of the trolls... The only problem being that then the people using AC mode for legit reasons will become blocked... CmdrTaco, another dedicated story for this topic would be very nice. Thanks.
