    Dammit, I can't believe this keeps coming up. Because it DOES NOT EXIST! It's a science fiction fantasy. Will never work without massive leaps in technology that no one knows even how to approach solving. Might as well research magic at this point.

    Why aren't all the NASA centers run like that?

    Because as I said, the vast majority of the money is mandated to go to specific projects instead of where it makes sense.

    This is a great example of how NASA is trying to cut a wasteful program but is having its hands tied by Republican senators with solely their own selfish interests in mind and not caring about the usefulness of the end output. I can't remember the exact number but something like over 90% of the NASA budget is mandated of where it is spent by congress and the NASA administrator has no control over it. NASA has no choice but to be inefficient when saddled with restrictions like that.

    NASA would be far more effective if it wasn't mandated by law to keep current contracts in place. Constellation was mandated by Bush, is completely unrealistic and unsustainable, and they are trying to terminate it which is what any fiscally responsible organization, public or private would do. However senators are passing stupid laws to prevent them from taking the right path. ,

    The problem with DDOS Is the same as crimes committed by multi-nationals no one has the authority crime committed in country X Data center in country Y business registered in country Z

    That's why the world court is such a good idea. A common set of rules for everyone and no where to hide.

    Rather than cracking down "with the full force of the law" you ask for a fine, no jail time, and possibly forfeiture of their computer hardware (but not the hard drive or other media).

    No, I'd say the opposite. Take their computer, all the media and every computer in the house. Non returnable. The parents will then rip their little criminal teenie bopper a new one. Problem solved.

    Tell that to the Japanese Wolf, the Bali tiger, the North African Elephant and the hundreds of other species that went extinct due to mans' interference.

    Except that we don't. All instances of human violence can be attributed to defense, survival, territoriality, need to reproduce, etc. Just like other animals.

    What a complete crock of shit.

    What about rape, murder and sexual molestation? What about those sick fucks who get off torturing animals? Humans contain the most depraved bunch of members of any species on the planet. Some members do evil acts just because they feel like it. There is no gain and no reason to it.

    You're doing what I'd call reverse-anthropomorphization, you're ascribing to humans certain behaviors which you insist must somehow be special from other animals.

    Happens all the time. Religious groups refuse to entertain the possibility of same sex mating in animals, stating it is solely the evils of humans. God's creatures couldn't possibly be gay.

    As someone who works for a company that subcontracts planetary instruments to NASA, the requirements im posed by NASA that you have to follow to prevent contamination are extreme to say the least.

    Ok, lets say you own a farm and you sell vegetables harvested from that farm. I own the adjacent property and inadvertently release a toxic substance contaminating the groundwater. Your farm is now barren due to the exposure.

    Is it not logical for you to claim damages, including that of lost future revenue? I didn't steal anything physically from you but I still took something (revenue) from you. A concept of future revenue is common in damage claims. http://www.nature.com/nbt/journal/v20/n3/full/nbt0302-210.html

    While I do believe that it is immoral and illegal to download movies/music, etc. without having paid for it, either through a commercial service, or having bought the product previously, let's not apply terminology that doesn't fit. And theft and piracy just don't fit.

    You're depriving someone of future revenue which essentially is theft.
