All of the above lack either quality or user control. Some have quirks like needing to break encryption and being careful about your hardware locking up due to changing region codes.

Just buy a new car. Maintenance free so you dont have to tinker. Put that spare time to something useful. My last three cars (including a hybrid SUV now) I've never even opened the hood. Couldn't care less. I put gas in and it takes me where I want to go. Every few months or so I take it for a checkup. I'm an engineer and naturally curiuis, but car engines? - I could give a rat's ass.
It's a good thing when you don't have to worry that if you get sick you might go bankrupt paying for it.
My father got a pacemaker at no cost to him under Canadian health care. This would have cost at least $50k in the US which he could not afford. Without the heath care system he would have probably died even though he is otherwise perfectly healthy.
