Sorry but this is NOT even remotely insightful.

Lets say I was going to buy 1 EA game this year and so were 3 of my friends. If I convince them all night to thats 4 sales lost... now when you consider a big hit like EA sports games they sell thousands or millions. Nothing short of losing a good 1000+ sales will even remotely register with them. I don't have the power to stop that and I doubt most of Slashdot does. So "vote with your wallet" works about as well as "vote for the guy you want". One or two people mean nothing in this day and age, you really can't do much and a small scale boycott won't effect them at all.

Blizzard take a damn stance, either get rid of all guilds (not going to happen) or let people make a guild for anything from Hello kitty fans to the village people's friday night orgy club. This has "dumbass" idea written all over it. Take the two years and recent a decent game and I'll buy it, advice my friends to buy it and try and support it as best I can. I think it'll personally be some where in the middle. Doing damage but not enough to destroy the entire world. As I've said in other posts "theres more reasons than just warming the planet you need to think about", if you remember in the 90s we had mass issues with smog and dirty air in cities, surely hasn't improved any and cleaning up vechiles would do it a lot of good.

Of course theres also global dimming and the gases maybe cooling the planet to some extent as well. It's a very complex topic and even if the current models are not perfect, I suspect there is some truth in them. If I'm wrong I will say so, but I'd be willing to put money against it.

Fossil fuels are limited in the long term, smog and general urban build up is becoming a problem and basicly we need to fix all these problems and one of the easiest ways is to just be cleaner. I mean would you let your dog live in it's own filth? Why should we do it?

It may or may not be warming up, but again at the same time, the red light may just be on because iit's set to, or it maybe a car is about to cross. Do you risk an accident or play it safe? That's the situation we're in.

My brothers 25 in a few days and I see a complete idiot (no sense of money, totally based his life around drinking, sport and idiotic women), yet we have the same parents and were brought up more or less the same way.

Some times giving your kid room to breath will give them the peace and quiet they need to learn (as in my case), but other times it'll make a complete idiot (See : my brother). So I'm really not sure you can say "they let their kids do whatever they want" and blame it all on the parents.

If like me as a kid they wanted to play RPGs they'll learn to read much faster, will get a sense of justice (in a very corny way, but it does indeed apply outwards in many ways). Where as if you teach kids they can become third rate celebrities, put a group of ten retards on TV (Big brother) for several months to "show it's true" and generally turn TV into a place to show tits then you'll breed some idiots.

If you want to see what really made the country go downhill so quickly I'd suggest you check the TV listings from the 90s and today. In the 90s every night would have a mystery drama on ITV (Morse, A touch of frost etc.) which encouraged thinking and then commonly you'd have a few quiz shows thrown in, which obviously never hurt with knowledge. Now our quiz shows are "pick a box, any box OOHH you lost money how sad!" and our dramas are about pathetic sluts (looking like super models), whining how "all men suck" and then trying to get a cock in every hole they have.
