    I think we missed the rolling blackouts in East Brunswick. Maybe the general backwardness of the area helped to keep demand down, so there wasn't as much of an advantage in switching us off, while places like Templestowe, with an aircon on every building, were prime targets for load shedding.

    The users have changed. The whole point of improved user interfaces is that the medium is accessible to a greater range of people. There are more people in the world who are interested in their daughters party photos than the contents of github.

    I don't know how fast those light sensors are but imagine if you could do interferometry with the baseline being the width of the tablet. With a coherent light source you might be able to do something like holography.

    I don't think its a very radical claim. My sons ipod touch is pretty thin. Now if they can make "Minority Report" tablets... Transparent and in arbitrary sizes. Drag and drop objects from any to any.

    The only reliable way to break DRM on proprietary android devices is to install your own OS. This is impossible to do without open source drivers. Android distributors benefit from GPL software. I don't see why they should be given a green light to break the GPL.

    I don't think that's actually accurate in most jurisdictions. Possession of "Burglary Tools" is what I call (I don't know the real name) a "rider offense"

    Here in Australia possesion of child pornography seems to get added on a lot, though it is often dropped at a later stage, once they actually go through the pictures.

    Its more like the set of security screw driver bits in my tool box. I can use them to open devices which I own, which have been secured against tampering. In this case the security was in place to protect the warranty provider.

    At what point did he think bringing a pointed/sharp object on a plane was a good idea anyway?

          You missed the point where it was explained that it was actually his private airplane, not a commercial jet.

    But they would have to allow the objects airside, where he could pass them to a passenger on a commercial service, or be mugged and have them stolen from him, etc.
