I'd say that there wasn't spin on the show if the satire directed was even, but it wasn't, not in the least. During the campaign, Bush was lambasted while Kerry had to survive the occasional cursory remark, often dealing with something more superficial as opposed to idealogical.
I understand that the show is satire. However, when satire is unevenly applied, even in a fake news setting, it is spin.
PS: Kerry recieved the most positive press for a candidate in at least 20 years. To say that the press was all for Bush is a bit naive.
PPS: Stewart already beat you to the punch on slamming the regular news channels.;) In a rather hilarious way, no less.
The Daily Show has no spin? What channel are you watching? John Stewart places enough left wing spin on the subject matter it'll make tops dizzy. I'm not saying that its not funny, but to say it has no spin is like saying peanut butter doesn't stick to the roof of your mouth.
I'll stop you right there. If they came in and told me they wanted quick and small and simple, I'd sell them a compact. Not an SUV. Bad salesman, bad analogy.
Bad salesman is right, because thats essentially what you are doing. You are trying to sell an SUV people who want a compact, and you don't understand why they would even want a compact: "I have never understood the idea of Firefox" and "I just don't understand why anyone would choose Firefox, once they've tried Mozilla Suite." Some people don't use email clients at all, or any of the other applications in the mozilla suite. So why would they want something that runs all those things regardless of need?
Mine doesn't. Mine does not run in the taskbar, and loads up quick as lightning. Sounds like a hardware problem to me.
Then maybe my memory is fuzzy. It has been a long time since I bothered with the suite.
I do understand some people want a compact, when they could have an SUV. Let's try another analogy...equally flimsy.;) Who would opt for a compact car over an SUV, when BOTH ARE FREE?
I would, for one. I don't want to drive around a giant, lumbering behemoth; I want something small, quick and nimble. And I know that I'm not alone in that sentiment.
From conversations with others, I also understand that they start asking me for "this extension" and "that extension", to do things that Firefox won't do right off the bat. They're like "...extension? OK, What else do I need to download for this crazy thing? Why doesn't it just WORK?"
I've never had to download anything extraneous, so maybe its a hardware problem.
Ok, fine then, analogy time. Lets say someone is shopping for a car. They are looking for something that is quick, small and simple. You are the car dealer. You keep suggesting SUVs and Minivans to this person. They don't need the space, but hey, its there if they want it. However, having that capability means they don't get the features they wanted, small and fast.
I had the mozilla suite before I had firefox. The suite was a pain because it had to run in the taskbar and just ate up memory. And if you didn't want it in the taskbar, it took forever to load up. With Firefox, there is nothing running constantly in the background, there is no absurd load time, and there is no bloat. I just don't understand why you can't understand that many people just want something small and quick for their browsing needs.
Your analogy falls short as well. A person renting an apartment is not the same as a corporation, despite your best efforts to make it seem so. The tenant is paying to live on the landlord's property, while a shareholder has bought a piece of ownership in a company. The renter doesn't own any of the apartment building, just the furnishing he places in the apartment. I'm not really seeing how that relates to a person having partial ownership in a company that does something wrong.
I'm still trying to figure out how any of this relates to the topic. The topic was having a national flat sales tax and a flat rebate sent to everyone. I say it wouldn't work, you say it would create a system of rental crap, I point out that the RIAA is already moving towards that kind of system, and it sucks, then you go off on a monetary system rant. Nice job. Take some ritalin and have a nap.
And we do need some taxes, because people need to be paid for their work, even those who work in government. Either a small sales or property tax would do the trick.
The retail sector would languish under such a system, as those who did the most buying would buy less because of the exessive taxation with no compensation.
What about businesses, are they to function under the same system, considering that they handle much more money than everyone else and purchase on a larger scale? Large companies would hold onto old technology until they absolutely needed it, and even then they would only buy the bare minimum because of the excessive sales tax and no return.
The lack of purchasing would bring the economy to a grinding halt as everyone but those who are taxed within reason buy as little as they need. Sure, people would still buy. But I know that I would be getting by on the least amount as I could. So then you have a case of the rich remaining rich and holding onto their money, the poor being paid for being poor, and the middle class and business being shafted. The only major difference between your idea and what is currently in place is that there is a lot less red tape, and a crappy economy.
You could just bookmark all those MBs and place them in one bookmark folder. When you go to that bookmark folder, you'll see at the bottom of the drop down "Open in tabs". That will open all of the bookmarks there in their own tabs. Enjoy.
Even then, however, that is more money being pumped into the private sector. More things are being purchased, demand is going up. So, companies increase output and new companies are created, all to meet that demand. So now we have jobs being created, making less "losers" in the system, so now less people are requiring help.
At least thats how things would work in theory;)
I won't deny that they are pushing hard to the right. All I'm saying is that point and shout about it when all the others are leaning the other way. Shucks, a diversification of opinions in the news. I guess I'll never know what to think, now.
This story is over a week old. Look at the published date: December 13, 2004. So you probably already read it ;)

And how nice of you to realize that this book is being released a page at a time.
I voted for Badnarik, so whatever indeed. Seems I'm the only unbiased one here ;)

Durring a campaign, when you mainly praise the other candidate... yes. ;)

My friend has been playing HL2 on a 950 duron and a 9800pro just fine. And when he upgraded to an 1800+ athlon, it just ran all around better.
As for the geforce, you'll be fine as well. I've been using an ATI 8500 rather well, so your 5700 ultra should be more than enough.

Well, the RIAA is already heading towards that model, and it sure feels great being hosed by them...

How much competition is there? I know practically nothing about the state of the aerospace industry.
Its not like your counter argument was exactly a dissertation... ;)
As to the wasteful job, what industry was it in?
There is an update for adblock. Just go to Tools > Extensions and select adblock, then click update. Easy as that.

No spin zone indeed. They do make the news feel like a top sometimes. ;)

Yeah, you're right. Its hard to make it fair and balanced when its one network on one end of the teeter totter and 3 or 4 on the other.
And Kerry never lies either. Ask how his Christmas in Cambodia was...
Whoops, looks like someone missed the joke train.
Foobar does

Handy, simple, small, and will go straight to the system tray.
