Try swing dancing, a lot of the guys are technical in some way so you will get along with them and the girls are cute and fit (or they will be soon) and they like nerdy guys more than the average group of girls does.
Find a swing dance club in your area.. it's more social than a ballroom dance studio and way cheaper.
I've had that happen pretty often, but I like that there's a fixed cost to the service. Sometimes I feel like watching a lot of movies and I tear through my queue and other times the do sit on the shelf collecting dust.. but the cost is the same to me and it's way less than cable. Cable movies play all the time and I never seem to find one I'm excited about watching.
I bet this is directly related to Sony's refusal to allow M$ to integrate Blu-Ray drives with XBox. My understanding is that Sony's DRM will not allow the XBox to stream content through from Windows MCE to a TV.
Sounds like a case of 'two can play at this game"..
Do you remember changing jobs during the Dot com boom for better perks and salary. Even if you didn't, you probably noticed those perks increasing during that time to improve your job retention.
Isn't that the flip-side of this argument? Now that jobs are more scarce your employer is putting the squeeze on you a little bit in return. Just like before, you have the option of looking for another job.. only now you know it's going to be a lot more difficult than it was 5 years ago. So you stay and put up with the loss of perks just like your employers had to fork out the perks when they were afraid of losing you.
Definitely a great way to get a social life.

nVidia.. didn't they make the graphics chips for the first XBox console and then fight with MS over the royalties or something like that?
..
I think I'd file this story under the 'Microsoft dirty tricks' heading

It's just the way the cycle goes.
