    I'm not even sure that compromise is neccessary. Not being completely repressed by the two major parties so that people can actually learn about them is though. When the Dems and Repubs illegally hold public funded debates and have the other candidates (namely green and lib) arrested for following the law then there is a serious problem. When the media chooses not to comment upon this, there is a more serious problem.

    What kind of crack are you smoking? There is no way that the war would have been won without America and Canada's help. The Japs would have finished overrunning Austraila in short order and eventually Hilter would have succeeded in cutting of the British Isles and starving them out.

    if the developers knew what they were doing they wouldn't need referential integrity. Properly made transactions are the only way to fly as they are only used when needed and don't put a constant drain on the DB server like enforced ref integ would.

    Work ethic: What really annoys me are users who expect me to give them an absolute timeframe for analysing and fixing a problem.

    Amen brother. I hate when people ask me how long it will take me to write a program. I don't freaking know, now do I? It might take me two days, it might take me two months. Until I get into it and really understand the requirments and what not I will have no idea, and even then it isn't like I can tell you.

    People need to realize that you aren't ever going to get good esitmates because there is so much unforseen crap that happens.

    Sometimes that is all you can get them on. Al Capone comes to mind.

    For non-US people, or US people that never had history class, Al Capone was a famous bootlegger (someone that smuggled alcohol into the US) during prohibition (where alcohol was illegal). The FBI tried for a long time to catch him at it, but he always wiggled out. Finally they got him on tax evasion charges.

    Actually I think you nailed it. The problem isn't that there isn't anything out there that is windows like, it is that there is SOOOO much stuff out there for linux that people can't figure out what is the best for them (which usually means the easiest to use, gui wise). That and the stupid names.

    How does the team system software work? I'm suppossed to evaluate it, but if it sucks I don't want to waste my very limited time (we're currently using 2005 professional).

    Me. works fine in .Net (even the 2.0 framework). If you can't remember what all your controls are called it is the best way to make intellisense give them to you.

    Those things do exist and are even getting cheaper. You can find either switch boxes or recievers that have HDMI ports. Most of the ones that cost less than 4,000 only have 2 ports though.

    But the cables are really damn expensive. They are getting cheaper now than they were last year, when I bought mine, but they are still really expensive.

    Here, here. I make it plain whenever I interview that I am not adverse to the occasional overtime if a REAL emergency comes up or something, but I WILL NOT work overtime normally, unless I'm getting paid time and a half. Then I'll do it.

    Non competition agreements are actually NOT legally binding in most states in the US (assuming that is where you live). Of course that didn't stop a company I worked for from making me sign it, but I didn't care since it didn't apply.

    I got both of my after college jobs through Monster (while in college and for a while afterwards the job I had was due to connections). It took about 6 months and hundreds of resumes sent on most of the big boards (monster, hotjobs, dice, computerjobs, etc) then I got a reply about 2 months after I sent them my resume. The company ended up sucking but found my current job, via recruiter, via monster, and really like it. It only took a couple of months and about 80 responses the second time.

    Well, in that case we should remove all vehicles that are capable of causing damanage to someone or something, since we are preventing harm. So everyone, sorry to say, but it is time to walk everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. No more international travel since even ships might cause problems. Oh wait, if you are walking along you might accidently bump into someone and knock them over, causing them harm, therefore no walking either. Ok everyone, you can't ever leave your house, nor can you have anyone in the house with you in case you harm them in some way.

    SAP is a huge POS. Originally it was built as a manufacturing management software. It would track all kinds of things such as inventory and output and such. It was actually pretty good at that. Now it has migrated into this behemouth thing that tries to do everything from the original to web development platform to content management and sucks at it all.

    Oh yeah, and it is REALLY, REALLY expensive.

    Oh Good Lord, another uninformed, non-libertarian knee-jerk response.

    Time for a little lesson. A Libertarian is someone who believes in maximizing personal freedom. It is a, and this is important, POLITICAL party esposing a particular political belief. You seem to be confusing it with Capitolism, which, once again important, is an ECONOMIC theory.

    Now, it just so happens that one of the most common types of Libertarians is the "Free-market Libertarian", but that is not the only kind, and you know what, there are also "Free-market [Insert another political party here]".

    So, please accept the fact that most of the rest of us are going to laugh at and openly mock your reactionary ignorant name calling, probably while rolling our eyes and shaking our heads.
