    I am all up for new protocols, but there is a reason why we do not have:

    http, httmyp, tthpp, hhtp, mshttp [I wouldnt doubt], SCOhttp, HPhttp

    Don't fragment the issues, work on a common protocol, if we can uncouple protocol and application (which has happened in all major networks I think) then good.

    Go for it supe..r..pr..nva...! but make it open.

    I kinda knew bit torrents would be attacked, can't they just publish the ip's that are attacking them, and get us to click on them a bit?

    But build your own market has never been easier with MS windows.

    THe ULTIMATE irony is if M$ sold thier own spyware-removal tool...

    Also, there are so many fraud looking sites selling a million an one spyware removal tools...

    Sorry, but educating users on easy removal of software, and mandating all software should be easily removable (an OS binary tracker which tracks file creation etc would be nice!).

    Also, any software that breaks these 'principles' can be defined as malware, and is criminal. obviously this would need a lot of careful thought, but generally, programs need to play as advertised, or play nice [because you might want to buy a program that hides itself away].

    They might have made some upgrades to it, you know... take some market away from other computer hogging apps, the usual 'hit all markets' approach.

    Microsoft, being thier usual innovative self have brought us a new version of an IM client, and a new DNS to atatch to our blogs.

    *IF* it comes with XyZ mb's of image hosting, then ok, might be a good service, but for now seems like a catch-up-quick. Plus it needs one of these passport things, I tried placing mine up on the screen, but it ain't having it, maybe the picture is too old.

    Passports, pah. Anyone remember the wallet service?

    This is one thing where I hope europe follows suite... and that credit companies are tightly regulated to help the little man... and woman...

    It works! 38745 results... eek. Shame there are any BLOB's stored so I can see thier picture... and maybe run a process to correlate them by aesthetic featues...

    OK, ask slashdot, does anyone know any good GIS application I can use to cross-correlate some coordinate information from an sql query, and the coordinates for all good restuarants within a 5 mile radius of the long/lat which cater for any preferences [vegetarian etc] that may be apparent from the sql rows. :-)

    You see, edge detection is funny.

    Real world discontinuities, what they mean is, you run an edge detection algorithm on the distance signal.

    This will not find edges in newspaper print.

    No edge detection system is perfect - even this which uses spatial edges.

    There is no real new technology, the multiple flash cameras are amazing and beat any faked edge detection hands down.

    I do think they have awesome capabilities to allow computers to do what our eyes do, which is segment and label areas of our vision, and may make the blighters useful!

    Computer aided sensory vision [audio descriptive alerts] could do amazing things for blind people, if we get there before they make artificial eyes better than 16x16 resolution.

    Google can claim fair use for this act, also if they wish to be removed, they can immediately using the emergency removal tool.

    They can use the no cache, or robots.txt to help crawlers or web people.

    Now, funny thing, how can they sue google, I guess google must have made sure this is sewn up tight: They are using a web server, and a web protocol, that in the RFC ACTUALLY DEFINES the use of the robots.txt as part of the specification (http, well I think it does) - so they open up thier content to be searched using this technology, it is thier responsibility to make sure they keep thier documents safe.

    What next, people suing google because thier naked pictures get online, thier driving license scan, thier credit card numbers... stupid!

    They are allowed to remove and block using meta tags and robot files any content they are in control of, but now the worst part is, they complain about OTHER sites linking to them...

    Now what if a certain republican decided they didn't like certain websites attitude towards them, and took this oppourtunity to pass a law protecting porn sites, and then from there, decided it didn't like certain newspapers (you see, we get more scared if physical news gets censored... stupid again) were reporting.

    It is 2-3 steps to go from, google, remove these XXX password links, to someone being able to censor anything if they have enough cash.

    In Korea, only old people use google for pr0n.

    I agree, credible blogging - or even credible 'news sites' (there is really no difference) is necessary, and good.

    What we need is google to have:

    Web - Images - Groups - News - [Hey where did directory go?] - Blogs (with pageranking for blogs too).

    However, many blogs are ot news related, perhaps some semantic magic needs to be added, perhaps adding a meta-tag saying which blog topics you cover:

    personal diary
    random porn links
    teen angst
    self indulgent whore
    self indulgent poet
    news reporting

    you can add to them if you want, or even re-word them.

    Korea.... lol

    I agree with you though, there are far to many unaccountable blogs and news sources adding noise to the worlds news.

    It is stiking how a 'I heard it was 3 men with moustaches' becomes headline news on CNN, if you saw 80 days around the world, a comic scene where Jackie Chan (Pass-Par-to) sends his own misguided signals to take the heat of him.

    Lets just meditate on an event - any event. It happens once, it is a primary source of news, now people witnesses, second hand witnesses, editted news wires, out of context sound bites, blogged opinion merging fact with overly jealous authority of an opinion.

    How many people get the real scoop? Or just a watered down, edited, censored - or worse, worked over by the ministry of truth.

    Anyway, paranoia aside, my new tin foil hat arrived this morning!

    So can SCO call thier licenses "Linux" or just 'use of derivative unix components that we believe we bought licenses to, then lost them, then sold them, then found them, then shredded them, then imagined them, and are now trying to sell them, even though, buggered if we can remember where we put them, so we will take something similar' licenses.

    I'd buy one if they called them that.

    Get real SCO, two imaginary companies buoght your pretend monopoly-money licenses.

    Splash screens were developed to show loading of application, and branding of application.

    I hate the M$ office splashscreens [haha been a looong time since I saw a M$ splashscreen!, the open officeone is required at the startup time (hopefully 1.5 will stop that) is exagerrated because all office startup dlls are precached.

    If you use the open office starter this helps too.

    Anyway, In Korea, only old people have so many windows open.

    Have been causing a stirr, they were actually outlawed in Greece I heard, and then re-instated - too many kids playing games!

    I say the distributors could sell licenses to the cafes themselves... this seems to be a funny way of capturing a wierd stake... valve shafted thier publishers, almost making sure they had an escape plan... or thier publishers are greedily holding onto something that isn't thiers.

    Publishing will not go away, but become a gift based medium, an 'order nice boxed set (collectors edition) for gifts.

    Anyway, In Korea only old people use pay-per-play
