Well, it should never be blocky because it uses overlaping blocks and not because of the wavelets. However it is blocky anyways (at least schrodinger) on low bitrates.

The biggest problem with dirac is that it is badly tuned and low bitrate doesn't cause an unfocused picture, but hi frequency artifacts.

That means that you may run it on the server and not distrebute it as long as you trust in those who control the servers. (and if someone cracks the server then they may use the code as they want). • Lets you customize your kernel
    • Has the latest software available
    • Has NO major dependency problems (currently I think Gentoo is the best at this point)
    • Is based on (i686) binaries. (no waiting for software compiling)
    • Has automatic hotpluging that asks you if you want to mount/take an action when something is plugged in (KDE compatible)
    • Has a programmed installer (not bash)
    • Has all quirks well documented. (configuration files and so on)
    • Starts up as fast as possible, and scales well with sevral services
I have not found any distros better than Gentoo so far.
