    Couldn't you utilize an anonymous proxy?

    I am disappointed that all distros quoted are "old" versions of their existing ones strictly speaking. Why do software companies do this all the time?

    I don't understand why you would do that.

    I currently run my computer system off solar panels. They (SSDs) consume less power as compared to systems that have hard disks. FYI, I live deep in the country.

    It's my intention to grab one of those Toshiba systems once they start shipping. I hope that a Solid State Drive will be able to handle the constant read/write operations associated with MythTV.

    Some folks here at Slashdot, have suggested that SSDs are not a good choice for applications like MythTV. This time, I will prove for myself.

    It depends on what nations you are talking about. In the USA, bio-fuels might be a non starter but in poorer [tropical] nations, bio fuels are a "Godsend."

    These nations put in very little in bio fuel plants like the Jatropha, then get its seeds that can yield up to 40% oil by weight.

    The plant is also resistant to drought and needs very little maintenance. The trouble with the USA is that folks look to corn whenever the bio-fuels subject comes up and in many cases, this is not economic at all.

    It depends on where in government you happen to be. At the department of State we have Content-control software. Which strictly speaking is censorship in action by government.

    So what if China sensors the internet? So does Saudi Arabia, our ally and nothing is said...and they do not allow women to drive..and women must always seek permission [from men] to go out.

    This reminds me of Iran.

    We (the USA), supported a dictator in Iran but when the people rose up and forced him out, installing their own dictator we did not like, we branded them evil.

    Ca anyone tell me that the USA does not censor the internet in anyway? That is...one can get anything on the internet from anywhere in the USA?

    I doubt it. Now do not tell me it's not government policy because the end result is the same.

    Friends have been bugging me to put my profile up on Facebook. But I resist. First, I am not 100% sure that once my info is up there, it will not be there when I choose to deactivate my account...or can I delete it?

    Second, I have people who I never want to see me...ever! Facebook does not help on this. I have been "hiding" under the curtain of security. So can someone tell me the pitfalls of Facebook and other social networking sites?

    Can you explain why Cuba, one of the so called 3rd world countries has a life expectancy equal to that of the USA? Can you?

    Yet, you, like most Americans will just say..."Oh it's a communist country...", as if being capitalist helps you when you are dead, or when you have been rejected by insurance companies like so many unfortunate Americans.

    BTW, [communist] China now finances our debt! Are you proud of that? The poster just before you has some stats in case you are interested.

    Haha, you make me laugh. Ask yourself...Who is doing the rating? With this corruption, I can trust nobody except the average American who has proven that the Japanese build better cars and have been doing this for decades.

    In case you did not know, the American car giants have lost market share...have a look http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosinsider/0501/06/A01-50668.htm.

    Those Japanese cars are simply better built, have a good resale value and do not give a lot of headache. Aren't these the folks who endorsed the Malibu as the car of the year until it was tested on the road? It was, you guessed it, almost junk. Some folks will not touch it with a 10 foot pole. In the mean time, the Camry and Accord are doing fine.

    Have you driven a Lexus lately? Sit in one...just sit in one and have a look...then compare it with any garbage from Detroit...then you return to educate me.

    What else do you need? I doubt these 3 car giants will be around in the next 3 years. And I am not a lone. By the way, I drive a 2007 Lexus GS 450. I cannot ask for a better machine.

    I guess you are among those who do not believe that some of these so called 3rd world countries are *slightly* ahead of us especially in what a cellphone can be used for. Now, that's a fact.

    From our auto industry's junk products, to corruption (Haliburton), nepotism and incompetence (Katrina), among our elected officials, it's been downhill for a long time.

    So just tell me...how is different would this story be if it happened in the 3rd world?

    I submit that it is sad because in my opinion, the next threat to US security will not come from countries like N. Korea. It will come from home grown terror.

    After all, one can simply walk into the US from Mexico and Canada. If the terrorist is well facilitated, they we could be in big trouble.

    I wonder whether we as a nation, are borrowing from China to finance this already absolete technology...if the Russians are to be believed.

    I will disagree with you because it has. Try Texas. Petty thieves/robbers/thugs do not fool around so much these days. We live in peace. Why? Because they know the consequences.

    Even better, the death penalty guarantees 100%, that the perpetrator never harms another soul...ever.

    What can be better than that? Knowing that in this earthly life there are [very] few guarantees?

    Imposition of the death penalty to those caught red-handed would do a lot in stemming the theft of copper in our critical infrastructure.

    I second this approach if it can be proven that lives of law abiding Americans were put in danger at any moment during or after the theft.

    This approach works in China so I believe it would do likewise in these United States of America.

    Of course you were not. What happened was...you thought you were in good health, but you were not and there is proof.

    Things like strokes do not happen overnight.

    Events that you did not see, took place in your body, the result of which was the stroke.

    I am waiting for the time we'll have a near perfect Open Source Printer...fully functional with drivers and everything.

    If this ever materialize, I will be happy not to have to dole out money firms like HP, DELL and Lexmark that only cater for their bottom line and nothing else.

    Well, I do not care who he chooses as long as the chosen fella does not propagate policies that get in my way. I frequently download all kinds of stuff in all categories. Emule and Bittorent are my friends.

    I submit that if your software is suddenly worth $0, that is your problem. Why? Because folks at Red Hat will not believe you though there exists CentOS, which is just as good, and many others.

    Here is what you should consider. Change your business model...that could help. Agree that not all software is good to survive on in an open source environment unless you can get a way to lock customers in, or do what you do really really well. Better than anyone else in the business.

    ....Let that service relocate to Barbados. These are not the sixties! What the [socialist] Canadian government can do once the service relocates, is to attempt to block access to the site, or even block it like the [communist] Chinese do to some sites. Then we can lump Canada and China into the same boat.

    I am sure the Canadian government will not be proud of this.

    But even then, tech savvy Canadians can always get to the site using technologies already available. What I fear is that seemingly docile Canadian will just keep mum like they always do.
