Have you ever met or talked with someone from a rural area? They may not understand the finer points of technology, but they aren't stupid. Unless it's Alabama.
I think you might be underestimating how much of a liability this could be on a child in 10-15 years. Think about those folks who "don't know nothing about those computers" - it's only going to get worse. Would you want to force that on your progeny just to make your job as a parent easier?
Now I'm not trying to trivialize physical or emotional abuse - don't get me wrong. I would argue this is intellectual abuse however, and it all falls under the same "abuse" umbrella.
but it's impossible for you to actually show it happening
That's because it takes orders of magnitude than a human being lives, dumbass! Would you deny continental drift because you can't see it happening? Grass grows too slowly to be seen by the naked eye, so while we're at it you can deny that grass grows, too.
The "kitty-litter like" substance sounded like (to me) just material to hold the plant in place, since you don't have gravity to do it for you. However, it seems they would go with aeroponics instead?
"Don't normally" means that it's usually done correctly during write but not always. That it is even an option (and yes I've had to use it) means the filesystem does benefit from it. This has been around since ext2 and remains in ext4, so I don't understand what that has to do with it either.
You mean like everyone running Windows, as well as anything using an ext filesystem?
From e2fsck:
-D Optimize directories in filesystem. This option causes e2fsck
to try to optimize all directories, either by reindexing them if
the filesystem supports directory indexing, or by sorting and
compressing directories for smaller directories, or for filesys-
tems using traditional linear directories.
Even without the -D option, e2fsck may sometimes optimize a few
directories --- for example, if directory indexing is enabled
and a directory is not indexed and would benefit from being
indexed, or if the index structures are corrupted and need to be
rebuilt. The -D option forces all directories in the filesystem
to be optimized. This can sometimes make them a little smaller
and slightly faster to search, but in practice, you should
rarely need to use this option.
The -D option will detect directory entries with duplicate names
in a single directory, which e2fsck normally does not enforce
for performance reasons.
One of the most important parts of emergency response is to be flexible to developments. FEMA has repeatedly demonstrated that they lack this ability.

My new favorite animation. That ones getting archived away...

It's not abuse, but it's still a stupid thing to do. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions...
Might as well say "one didst catch a fish."
Damn! You turned my opinion around! I'm so sorry for ever doubting your position!
So the majority should lose out to make things easier for the minority?

Does it matter? A person is a person, and in English the default gender for words that still manage to have a gender is male.
The difference is you actually maintained/repaired it. Usually that would have been thrown out.
Or you could just hide them, then it stops trying. You can unhide later if you want.
Either that or I got unlucky. But it's there, and has a beneficial use. My condition still stands.
Then why is/was NASA the one doing all those aeroponics experiments (successfully) in orbit?

DRAM refreshes and rewriting data are two different things.
How is a tiny square of black tape on black plastic in a dark room ugly?
Nope.
Sorry, Dice, I do not come here for multimedia. But I will come and bitch about it in the comments (wasting resources is my revenge).
Personally, I prefer Bush and Shrub.
I'm pretty sure you could find someone to say anything, for the right price.
You're not even interfering with the photon, your antenna just happens to resonate with it as it passes by.
Examining the patch would make it stupid-easy for them to go and fix it, without actually applying the patch.
What ads? I don't know what you're talking about.
Of course, my device is rooted - and I claim it's irresponsible for carriers to try to prevent users from doing such.
