So what you're saying is that our order of presidential succession right now is Cheney, Hastert, and Stevens? OH MY FUCKING GOD somebody please make sure this is changed come November 7, 2006. I know! I'll go vote in a couple districts to the west (where Hastert represents in Illinois) and make sure to convince people to vote against him on November 7, 2006. I can't exactly go to Alaska, but if Democrats get the majority in the Senate, someone else will become President Pro Tempore (maybe someone good like Obama). Oh yeah, don't forget to vote (and not using the electronic Diebold boxen) on November 7, 2006.
And since Ubuntu is based on Debian, it is also very good for the experienced Linux sysadmins. I use Kubuntu, however, as experienced sysadmins also tend to use KDE.;)
Yeah, you can call Microsoft, and they'll happily give you another key (not a normal key, but a longer one for that specific situation). The people working the phones for that are very nice. If you can somehow make the damn robot thing understand you, you won't even need to talk to a human.
That reminds me of this book I read long ago about a dog who saved us from Y2K without resorting to reprogramming old-ass mainframes and whatnot. Same concept applied (nobody would think he was a dog, so it was hard for him to meet anyone in real life).
Uh, Konqueror, Safari, and Opera all fully pass the Acid 2 test, and Firefox passes it on the reflow branch (a specific development branch). Thanks for playing.

You can't really get more technical about filesystems than talking about things like dancing trees and other algorithms for storing and retrieving data quickly, safely, and efficiently. Don't forget, Hans Reiser is a filesystem expert, so don't expect his site to not have that sort of information on it.
I think you need to actually click the ads for Slashdot (or OSTG to be more specific) to get money, and it's generally not so large. OSTG makes a good amount of money as it is, so another story like this won't be noticeable when it comes to advertising profits.
A quick search for "firefox msi" gives this site as a result for what you are looking for. I could have sworn that Mozilla posted MSI's for Firefox nowadays, but I guess I was wrong.
My God, that is one of the most true and sad things I have ever read. Now if we could only compare that mindset to the mindset of your typical German in the 1930's when the Nazi party rose to power, we might be able to give a sudden wake-up call to more people.
Haven't you heard the stories about how godawful the DRM in the PS3 will or might be? Piracy isn't nearly a problem when it comes to console video games due to the hassle of modding your system, and even that takes some EE skills.
If you have a router (e.g. the WRT54G from Linksys that runs Linux) where you can edit the hosts file, I'm sure you can do it there. If you can't redirect it via that, you can use iptables on said router to remedy the problem.
Indeed. I think it's safe to say that Linux supports far more devices out of the box than Windows does (even with SP2). That's why almost all hardware you buy nowadays comes with either a business-card CD or a regular CD with drivers for the hardware that Windows inevitably doesn't support. Even your fancy nVidia or ATi graphics card works just fine with their respective Linux drivers from their respective companies, and there's even the "nv" driver for nVidia cards (which can't do 3d acceleration yet, but it's still good for the rest of the graphics-related processing when you want a free driver).
Man, don't bash those ads! Those are pretty much the first ads I've ever actually liked! I'm the kind of person who religiously uses Adblock, a PVR with automatic commercial removal, rips DVDs to remove PUO's and trailers, mutes commercials on live TV, etc. We need more good ads like these!
There should be some way of informing CNN that their blatant disregard for accessibility via their irrational usage of random javascript for everything is probably illegal due to accessibility laws.
Can someone just re-post the damn article in an accessible format (i.e. "Plain Old Text")?

Or, in the case of Diebold voting machines: "yes: +1" and "no: +2"
On a side note... does anyone know the actual count of employees who left MS for google?
Just count the number of overturned chairs at Microsoft's campus.

Wow, and I thought that limiting to 1000 concurrent users on a single mainframe was bad (one of the low-end leases)...

Well, those people were truly brave as it would mean death if the Revolution were to fail. They were true men of this country.

Would transcoding an AAC file to another AAC file with the same encoder settings introduce that many more artifacts? I've wondered about that...

Which also reminds me of the fact that you can't get raped by Chuck Norris because that would imply you didn't want it.
But were the 3DO, Neo-Geo, or Jaguar priced far above the competition with no noticeable advantages over said competition?

Hey, I just saw Perens somewhere else in the comments on this article, so I'm pretty sure he still talks about F/OSS.
