To add to the longevity issue, Sanyo delayed production on its corn disc due to temperature issues, I wonder if Pioneer got the bugs out?...
"There was a concern that if the disc was exposed to heat greater than 50 degrees Celsius that it wouldn't work properly," says Watson. "A timely topic now as the heat is blazing down on Tokyo, so the main obstacle that they are working on now is trying to improve the disc's resistance to heat. They can easily improve its resistance to heat with a mix of material but that kind of defeats the purpose of the MildDisc."

From what I have been hearing, 16x is the fastest DVD burners are going to become due to physical limitations of the media. With BD and HD burners still in their infancy, it seems like the DVD burner industry has made the upgrade to 16x a little to fast and may hit a dry spot next year.
As for the consumer, hopefully high quality 4x and 8x media will drastically come down.
From the CNN article: "Its storefronts sit next to Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Sephora and other boutiques that appeal to women -- a stark contrast to the big-box electronics stores in strip malls. Dennis Syracuse, vice president of Sony Style Retail, crashed a Tupperware party as part of his research to watch how women shop. His conclusion: Women do more homework than men."
The article is correct when it comes to Louis Vuitton and company that women do more homework, but when it comes to electronics, they usually have not idea what they are looking for. For all the women in my life I have helped shop for electronics, they usually pick the pretty one and then ask me if it does the things they think they want. Not to be a put down on women, but this store is dedicated for eye candy and probably won't appeal to nerds or to cheap asses like myself who want the lowest price.
Here is yet another good reason to stop outsourcing.
The person who made this probably lost their job and is just sitting around thinking of lame ass ideas like this one waiting for another job to come around.
In all seriousness, this bike blows harder than a $5 crack whore.
Andersen windows has made a showcase house for this purpose. "The exotic windows resemble those you'd see in a normal house - until they change colors or start showing you the latest "Friends" episode." Neat stuff
I agree, I cannot figure why anyone would even want to look at a 3.8 inch screen for a long duration and not interact with it. It's almost as dumb as watching T.V. on you cell phone. The media has people plugged in so much, it's scary.
The audio is the only good thing, and for that, I would get a sweet ass player for the price.
The article did not mention what the platform is, but I wonder if the Windows XP stripped to DOS edition is going to be used here or if a better alternative will be used?

Ive been a subscriber for 3 years and have not recived a single sales call.

The Army has is all wrong. Instead of spending money and the U.S. soldier, they should just outsource the soldiers and have other nations fight for us. It works for corporations, why not the Army...
From the article, "But now Nokia is struggling to catch up with smaller rivals pushing models consumers most want -- particularly camera phones and clamshell-style flip phones."
In lots of the business settings I have seen, there is a growing backlash against cameras in phones. By phone makers pushing cameras up the ying yang, they may be limiting a huge market share.

True. The marketing machine still has some time before the next gen BD or HD burners come out (outside of Japan that is).

...I'm still waiting for the Brits to invent a toothbrush. Its good to floss after eating bubble and squeak. I'm a jerk, I know.
"Just poking fun at you folks East of the Pacific"
...cough
I don't think anyone in the U.S. was offended.
Mumbling off to the side, "East of the Atlantic"

The author kept mentioning about the rise of Skynet or something like that. I wonder what that is...

I knew this sounded like a bunch of hot air!
I think the person who made the windows from the 8 LCD panels may have been inspired by this article or the segment on TV:

My crystal ball is telling me we will be seeing the same comments from yesterday...and this lack of media center still sucks.

If google is getting too large and sloppy, maybe they should change their name to Hotmail and get it over with...
